Been writing a video game hero for awhile now, just for fun. Iv come to the point were I have to decide whether this “character” wil be a custom or existing hero. I Debated with myself now and Im at a crossroads.

I think everyone can agree its fun making a PC from the ground up with eye colors, hair types and even choosing races but the thing is those characters will never be as iconic as the Master Chief or John Marston. Also custom heros usually have uninteresting backgrounds that are made to fit anyone, like the you’re a choosen one / prisoner / slave / super soldier gag I don’t like making up my own background like you do in TES and Neverwinter which has almost no in-game evidence of who you actually are. I like characters that have rich backgrounds like Carl Johnson and the Left 4 Dead survivors but again I like creating a character that I can call my own. I don’t really know how I feel about this.

What do you prefer? More so name some protagonist you like
