How do you play with household members?

Post » Sun Aug 04, 2013 3:56 pm

Soooo.. With the announcement of being 3 megaservers. Unless you play on pc/mac. I'm guessing theres no way to play with family members unless you buy 2 xbox's or 2 PS4's?

I'm sorry, but i think thats kinda ridiculous, cause im NOT going to buy 2 damn xbox/ps4's just to play with someone in the same household.

If anything, i think they need to make it where the xbox/ps4 is on the same server.

So is it PC only for household members? Also, will it be possible to transfer/play on different megaservers, or will there be a charge to switch servers?

Well, if two persons want to play the game, of course you need two plattforms to play on. That's the way this has always been with online games. Want to play with someone else at the same time, you'll need two machines. How else would that work?

As to the megaservers: as far as I know, there will be one located in the US and one in Europe (and one of each for each platform, so all in all 6). I haven't heard about switching the megaserver being possible. You'll definitely not be able to switch from a console server to a pc server, if that's what you mean (Otherwise the whole separation would be moot in the first place) (switching from the EU to US might be possible, but I've not read anything on this).

But on the megaserver you are on, there will be multiple "channels". You should be assigned to the appropriate channel based on your playstyle and your guild/friends, but you will be able to switch that. I assume there won't be a charge for this. Only exception is the PVP-campaign. You will join the same campaign whenever you go to cyrodil, but as far as I know you will be able to switch campaigns by paying with the PVP points you gain ingame.

edit:On reading your post again, I think your real issue is not being able to play together on PC and consoles or two different consoles. There have been several threads about this issue when the console versions were announced. the quintessence was: you can't let PC and console play together, because PC with mouse and keyboard is vastly superior to consoles when it comes to controls. And since this is an online game, having a game community where one part simply can't keep up with their competitors (in PVP) or their friends (in PVE) would be largely detrimental to the game itself.

While i can't state outright what you are asking for hasn't been done before... it hasn't been done to this scale.

There's multiple reason's why they would prefer not to do this.

I, for one, do not think it fair to take on a PC player with my controller.
