How do you set hotkeys? : V

I thought you hold down a number key and click on a weapon or spell you wish, but I haven't been able to hotkey yet and I'm a level 10. Figured I should start as soon as possible so I can stay in the habit.

Assign your item or spell to Favourites, open the favourites menu (Q on PC), highlight one and press a number key. There's a manual on the Steam Skyrim store page.

For console, go to item and click whatever the top button is, triangle or something. Not sure about pc.
