How do you use Shadow Warrior Perk effectively?

Post » Sat Jul 28, 2012 2:49 am

So I got 100 sneak the other day and picked up shadow warrior. I'm trying to figure out how to work it effectively. There are youtube vidoes of people entering sneak mode in the middle of combat and getting insta-kill death animations (throat slit from behind) . Against multiple opponants by simply exiting and re-ntering steatlth.

I can't even seem to re-enter steatlh reliably with the perk once detected (well, anymore than I could before simply by running around a corner and re-stealthing).

Also, a general sneak question. Is getting 100 sneak (and the perks) enough to do all my sneaking or do I really need +sneak gear to use it effectively?

Thanks.

Don't you have to be a reasonable distance away for the perk to work?

Trust me, +sneak is just icing on the cake. Against your average bandit fort you practically have to try to be detected.

I'm pretty new to the perk myself (and enjoying every moment of it), but it's like what the name suggests. You disappear only to reappear at your target's behind, slitting their throat in one complete dance. Especially when there's multiple target and you get a killcam for every shadow assassination, believe me, it's just one beautiful art.

And it helps not to have a follower accompanying you for these shadow runs, it just doesn't seem to work with them around.

You must instantly attack when you re-enter sneak mode because that only lasts for a second.

I second this. I've played around with the perk for a while and noticed that assassination killcams just do not trigger when you have a follower with you.

Edit: you should also hit your target as soon as you enter sneak mode. its not necessary to wait for the 'eye' in the middle of your screen to close before striking as you'll still get the sneak damage bonus if you're fast enough. This should work regardless of whether you're in front of or behind your target

If your able to roll to an area with cover, you can reliably reenter stealth mode most of the time. This is when I'm sniping people with my bow of course, but it could work with melee in some cases I guess. :ermm:

So it is fun to use shadow warrior with a bow? I was thinking of trying that.

You just have to realize that it isn't an invisibility spell. It only lasts for an instant but unlike invisibility, it actually breaks combat for a second. Invisibility means they can't see you. Shadow Warrior means you are gone. Use this instant to get behind your target to deliver the Charlie Murphy or roll away to cover. You can even spam the crouch button while you sprint away and out of sight.

Well first of all it is kinda hard to use it properly on xbox or ps3, due controls are bit more challenging then on mousepad (altho I prefer controlers over mousepads). I am playing on xbox and this was a bit of a problem for me at the begining, but it is all about getting into it. Practice makes perfect.
I thought perk is broken, but then I figured out how it works. If you watch closely, you will notice when facing enemy in 1st person and entering "stealth" for a moment, if you go around him, he will still stare at the same place where you were moment ago. In that situation you have to act quickly and use power attack on him, yet you have to be behind.
Sounds very simple and it is, but like stated it is bit more challenging on consoles, yet I know people who are much better then me with controlers, I am just average, so I think it shouldn't be problem at all.
And if you're on PC, then it is even better. Just be sure to sneak behind him in those two seconds. It might seem to you like you didn't do anything by crouching, but if you try it out in 3rd person view, you will notice cloak of shadows around you, meaning you're stealthed.

Just keep on practicing and get some awesome killing blows!

Incredibly fun, really. And OP :D

I saw this video of shadow warrior demo. It demonstrates how easy it is to do the crouch and face stab.

invisibility + quiet casting + face stab is also good.
calm/pacify + back stab is also good.
