Hi, i'm going through a huge bug that doesn't let me keep on playing. I have 100 in blacksmithing after much work and i thought i'd do Oengul War-Anvil's quest of getting Queen Freydis's sword without knowing the reward.

Long story short: I try to give Oengul (At Windhelm) the sword, and he says he will teach me blacksmithing and nothing happens... he doesnt take the sword, and no dialog box comes up.

The problem is that from that moment on, i can't activate things in-game. Can't rotate the pillars to solve puzzles, can't harvest blood, can't do a whole bunch of things so i'm officially stuck mid-game because of this bug.

How can i fix this? The nearest manual saved game is 10 levels below my current status, and i dont have time to re-play the whole game.

Your only solution would be reloading earlier save sadly. I don't think theres a way to fix it. Can try some random stuff like getting fus ro dah'd by a draugr or something since that broke my game once xD

This is why you should always have a number of different save slots and alternate between them... As for the bug fix you're going to have to attempt on an autosave and try again and see what happens and if that doesn't fix it then you're going to be stuck reloading to 10 levels lower...

Honestly though I've not run into a bug like this as of yet but I shall keep this in mind as I just picked up this quest on one of my characters and she's already got 100 Smithing as well...

Thanks for this post. I'll have to do this quest before I hit 100 blacksmithing.

Sadly enough, the only way I can see a way to fix this would be to reload an autosave. I'm going to bet you are like most people in this forum though, and don't have that enabled.

The way I've been -trying- to around bugs is make a new save game before every quest and then writing it down since we can't name saves. It's somewhat better than scouring the interwebs trying to see if me just taking a quest or staring off into space will bug me.

No prob.. sadly enough i guess i'll just have to play the whole magnus staff quest again... thanks for the tips, i'll be sure to save every time i start a quest from now on!

I can confirm the quest finishes if you are not at 100 blacksmithing. So the quest doesn't seem completely broken.

i had 100 blacksmithing ages ago, and recently completed the quest without any problems.. dunno.

but the guy did go and attempt to teach me blacksmithing and obviously nothing was learnt.
the sword was taken from me though and games seems normal after.
