A hunch about the Falmer

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 12:34 am

Have you read up on Skyrim lore lately, watched the old trailers, seen all three demos, viewed all the great concept art? Has it still not dawned on you like a sack of bricks that the Falmer are back and in an epic way. You're probably saying to yourself smugly "idiot, we know this already, been confirmed". Yes this is true but while under an "alchemical influence" :) I started connecting the dots. Checky here, the trailer has a dragon unfreezing/reviving from a rock/glacier when it opens it's eyes, proclaiming that no one wanted to believe but that they're truly back. Ask yourself who would come back to Skyrim to wreck havoc and fight, cue jeopardy song, the Falmer! The Falmer were driven out/under by the Nords. Either the dragons are a vessel, an ally, a reincarnation or an awaken form/state of the Falmer. No doubt the Falmer are in on this. They seek revenge for losing their land and I'm sure the Nords have not forgotten this, but it would be a cool dynamic if some have and some have not, as in the case of the Riverwood scene where the mom believes but the child thinks she is crazy. Hence old wisdom vs inexperienced youth. The recent 'making of dvd' depicting what may be Falmer with either adorned ritualistic feathers or actual growing feathers and casting fire was icing on the cake. Call me crazy but i wanna hear your view on this....

....and what if aside from the Rebels and the Empire we may be able to align ourselves with the Falmer, the true natives of Skyrim. Evil roleplayers would bow to Bethesda as minion if it were possible....discuss

Of course surviving Falmer want dragons to return. Most Mer (sans Dark Elves) want Alduin to eat everything.

That's a possibility, and if they're in they'll most certainly be remarkable adversaries.

Dear Moderator, no need to move this topic over to the spoilers forum considering it's more about lore and opinion than factual content, but I'll relent...

It's an assumption that they survived though, lore doesn't specify, my view is that the dragons themselves might be the Falmer in some weird twisted form

The Thalmor is the fanatical government of the Aldmeri Dominion (Summerset Isle, parts of Valenwood). Their goals are the escape of the mortal plane, and to do that they need to kill all humans and remove Talos.

Not really. Some view dragons as low level gods, however, of the same type that later became mortal races.

From what I gather it seems like an elven dominance of the past that existed until Tamriel was unified under my boy Tiber "el conquistador" Septim :)

The Thalmor returned at the start of the Fourth Era and have reunited the Aldmeri Dominion consisting of Summerset Isle and western Valenwood. The Empire was unable to defeat them and had to come to terms under the Concordat of White Gold Tower in which Talos was removed from the Divines and worship was banned.

Basically the Thalmor have the Empire by the balls and are influencing them heavily, Thalmor want pretty much the same goal as I presume the Falmer want - which is for men to be wiped out so that they can be released from Mundus and return to the Et'Ada.

This links into Skyrim since Alduin wants to destroy Nirn so he can start a new Kalpa - E.G. wiping the slate clean and starting again. Which is parallel with the Thalmors goals and I presume the Falmer, who would want revenge on men since the Atmorans wiped out the Falmer under Ysgramor.

Considering that some Nords view Talos as a dragon, would you say this might just turn out a battle between Talos representing the Men corner, and Alduin/Akatosh fighting for the Mer corner. Just picture the dragonbron, us, as "mickey" and the Falmer as "Ivan Drago" from the Rocky flicks.

Alduin is the nordic aspect of Akatosh, the Mer worship Auri-El.

Plus Ysgramor was debatedly a personification of Alduin which is strange but ah well.

If that's the case then that's another can of worms, interesting though

The ones who return are the dragons, not Falmer... the trailer refers to dragons. Falmers are in, yes, but I think you are assumng too much. For we know, Falmer have turned in quite ugly and not very bright creatures.

Technically yes, the trailer refers to dragons on the rise, but any good plot worth it's salt has it's twists and it's at least safe to assume, again I hope, that the Falmer would want to reclaim their land whichever way possible
