[BUG] Ice Wraith head stuck in me

Post » Tue May 22, 2012 7:49 am

Okay so I already know of the bug where arrows and ice shards don't disappear from your body but this thing has been stuck in me for over 15 hours and from what I can tell it's the head of an ice wraith.

I took a few screenshots of this bug

http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/3599/2011111700003u.jpg
http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/5272/2011111700002v.jpg
http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/3771/2011111700001n.jpg

Now I've tried everything from waiting to changing my six and race but nothing seems to work. The head is unsearchable so it's not a corpse that's stuck and when I enter the console and click on it I get my character's ID. One last thing, It randomly enlarges and shrinks and always produces frost which gets annoying after awhile. Any one have an idea of what I could possibly do to fix it using in-game methods or console commands?

Wow, I've never heard of this before.

sixchanging does nothing? Maybe you should try changing in a werewolf? It's unlikely to work, but it is worth a try.

Yeah six change and race changing doesn't work! When I use those commands it's gone, I go into first-person and when I switch back to third-person again it's back! I'll try the werewolf idea though anything is worth a try.

I tried using 'resurrect' but I assume that will never work in this case. You could always try battling the same creature again to get the head to push out. In theory, whatever stuck that object in your body should be able to take it out too. Get iced, or even try fighting a fire mage. You could try a spell that hurts you. Something similar to Equilibrium like a self-fire spell you can cast on yourself (I have no idea if these exist but I know Oblivion had them). These are just some creative ideas I thought of that might work miraculously. The werewolf idea sounds pretty legitimate though.

That seriously svcks, something like this should go away when changing a cell, or going into a loading screen.

I've never heard of something so persistent, especially during state changes.

There must be some sort of console command that could work...

Good luck.

Here is a list of console commands for your perusal:

http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Console_Commands_(Skyrim)

I will note TFC which toggles freefly cam.
"Toggle freefly cam (removes the body and set the camera free, you will not be able to interract)"
I don't know what that means exactly but maybe the head will come free if the body is "removed." SAVE your game before trying this out. I have no idea what would happen.

EDIT: Nevermind haha. It doesn't remove the body. You just detach yourself from the body while it's still stationary and float around like 343 Guilty Spark from Halo.

Yeah it didn't work. It was gone while I was a werewolf but when I turned back to normal, it was back again.

The thing is I tried fighting enemies like that. Ice mages (or any type of mage for that matter) didn't fix it and ice wraiths can't seem to bust their friend's head loose. It's as if the game built the head into my character yet no matter what I do to my character model it's always there.

EDIT: I used the free cam to take the picture haha if only it was that simple

Oh I see now that you used the TFC!
Well then, are you jumping in the first two screenshots you took? It looks like you can jump and leave it in place. What have you tried to do in midair if this is the case?
Unrelenting Force, Whirlwind Sprint from midair? I'm just throwing out more ideas. Something's got to work!

Try Shouting at it! :ahhh:

This is obviously a long shot to say the least, but have you tried emptying your inventory including all equipped items?

Or taking hits from arrows, lots and lots of them?

Well you see it's never actually touching me. It's fixed slightly below my feet and usually half of it is clipping into the floor. I just jumped so people could see what it was. Oh and I tried shouting at it but it didn't work. :(

Yeah just let myself get shot by arrows for 10 minutes straight and it's not affecting it at all. I also dropped everything from my inventory but that didn't do anything either. This bug is really difficult to understand, I just can't understand why it stays with me even when I completely change my six AND race! :banghead:

I hate to bump this thread but does anyone have an idea of what I can do to fix this persistent bug?

Sorry to bump this again but I've got the same problem, nothing I've tried so far can get rid of it.

Try going back into werewolf form and mak a save game while it is gone -- exit the game completly to clear all RAM and then try restarting and load that save and see if it still comes back after you change forms again -- could just be the RAM is storing your character while you change form and doing this might clear the RAM so it reloads from the HDD.

Yay! I finally found a way to get rid of that damn IceWraith head which was stuck in my character. All you have to do is the following:
Open your console, enter the command player.addspell 000caf8a. Now close the console, open it again and enter player.removespell 000caf8a.

In case a different creature FX effect is stuck to your character, I recommend to check HairySammoth's post in the " Strange bug... smoke shooting out of my character" thread: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1281700-strange-bug-smoke-shooting-out-of-my-character/page__st__20
