An idea about a very heavy armour.

Post » Sat Dec 22, 2012 5:01 pm

I had an idea that sprung from something I would always do when I met a troll (the Skyrim kind), and I was too encumbered to run away: I would put on the heaviest armour that I had, and become a slow moving tank of sorts. Almost like (yes I know it's awful) the juggernaught in Call of Duty.

This led to an idea: what if there was a specialized armour that did just this: it slowed your character to almost a walk (or a slow jog if you hit the sprint button), and made him/her like a walking tank, absorbing an immense amount of damage for a period of time?

What if there were special enemy archetypes that were like this? You had your regular foot soldiers, then these slow but heavy armour guys. I just get this picture of a bad(bottom) guy trudging at you with this massive axe (kind of like the axe archetype in AC3).

Could this be in a future DLC? Thoughts?

Did not think of that. Being Skyrim, I never use magic (it's land of the Nords! Not fairies!), and only use my bow for stealth or hunting...

Aha! That's actually not a bad idea: the archer should have to hit a few small exposed slots on the guy; everywhere else it is blocked.

Still don't know what you'd do with magic.

Yes, I do put on heavy armour because I can't run away, and the trolls do a lot of damage...do you have a better strategy?

Theoretically armor that heavy would slow you down just carrying it.

Might work as a mod, not in a DLC.

Possibly easier to maximize the Alteration skill and dual cast Dragonhide......

There's a smithing skill in the game. You can craft and improve the armor type/variant you favor. You don't have to carry a heavy set along.

As for magic, not having a place in the land of the Nords, that's a common misconception ;)

Don't get over encumbered to start with. If you are, stop, drop and roll...the troll.

Improve your gear,
Get a follower,
Summon a Flame Atro,
Jump on a rock and shoot your Bow,

I mean, what do you usually do to kill something?

...and just do that.
