Idea for 'fixing' the smithing level increase speed.

Post » Mon Aug 20, 2012 5:38 am

I don't know if anyone has yet to try this idea, but why not just delete patch 1.5 or whichever it was that made it insanely difficult to level up the smithing tree? I am currently testing this right now and will reply to this thread to let you know what I've found out and if this is worth doing!

lol wut? It's the other way around, leveling up smithing was insanely easy before that patch.

Okay, that was a terrible idea. I tried to load a game which it would not let me do because "This save was done with a later version of Skyrim."

I think I might have worded it wrong.

Everybody complained that smithing was OP and easy to level, so Beth fixed it. Are you complaining that now it is too hard to level?

I dun get it.

I'm not complaining being that I have no need for smithing. I was just offering some help by testing my own idea for making it easier to level up smithing, which in turn failed horribly for me.

I personally like the smithing better as it is now. Before, everything you made leveled you smithing equally, meaning the only reason to make material-costly items was to use it as your own (meaning you'd probably only make one and then keep going making iron daggers). Now theres more effort and sacrifice in leveling smithing (its still pretty easy to level, just find lots or gold/silver and gemstones and make jewelley).

Yeah, it's still easy enough to level - you just have to think beyond "make moar daggers :bonk:".

I don't do much Smithing, but when I do, I stick to Hunting for Leather, then improving Foresworn Armor until about Advanced Armors for Scaled. I don't really see the need to temper Heavy Armor. Really the only characters i even bother investing in Smithing for is Archers to improve their bows. Then again, my fighting style is pretty evasive, so I don't get hit as much anyway. As for weapons, they do enough damage for me untemepered. I don't really like 1 shotting everthing, I enjoy combat, and if I get it over with too quick, I spend more time running between fights than actually fighting. I guess I'm an irredeemable cherry tapper, is the problem.
