So for awhile I've been thinking up this idea and been putting pieces together on how it should work and flow, though hadn't (so to say) fully came up with what I wish... And I kinda been looking for opinions as I don't know what to expect, really... So ye'h. I've already wrote a quick short story to use as an introduction and get into the whole series (It's uploaded too but wont link it unless I know for sure it is alright and if asked)...
As for the idea itself... Well. Honestly, after watching so much Doctor Who... I asked myself, "What would a fantasy version of this will be?"... You know, have magic and fantasy things instead of Sci-fi, futuristic, etc stuff... And that what I've been slowly building up. Though my idea is similar to Doctor Who, since that where my inspiration came from, so gonna count this as fanfiction... Actually, probably best to count as such anyways!
Anyways... Here some things I've got so far:
The main character is gonna have a mystery past type of deal and will be known as The Wizard. He is a bit of a 'jolly' type of character and tend to have fun. He is also being well knowledge and highly intelligence type of person. He will be straightforward when he has to be and is very helpful, even though he wanted to do other things. He is highly into learning more and completing experiments, and the sorts... He is a Mage Lord, which is a special race. His home realm is called Maklico.
Even though he is a "Mage" Lord, he doesn't do as much spellcasting as you would expect... Mostly cause he specifically uses magic via his wand, which is his main tool and usually keeps it on himself. However, like almost all wands, it does need recharging so he tend not to use it that much in the first place, unless fully needed to. Also, being a Mage Lord gives him a regeneration ability. Unlike in Doctor Who, NO two hearts... It is simply base on magical blood that runs through him. If he ever ends up dying, the blood will boil and react magical, causing burst all sort of spells out of him and shortly afterwards, the magic is absorbed back to his body but reforms differently, giving him a new look. To actually kill him, you must have a mean of absorbing the magical energies before they go back to him... Which can be done in many ways, not just magical means. The easiest way being actually jumping through the magical energies yourself and let your body absorb them, or just being close enough really... (Which is why he tends to do things alone and stay away from people when his life is threatened).
He has a huge lack of knowledge about technology. So whenever he is in a techno realm (Including our own), he would be extremely confused at a lot of things. Though he knows enough stuff about technology to be able to guess a weapon. (For example, he knows what a gun is but doesn't really know specific kinds... Since in most realms he goes through, they only have a few simple flintlock guns or none at all).
His "home" is a special out-there realm... He calls it The Vortex. It is a dome-like area filled mostly with bookcases but also has a few stations (being alchemy and enchanting kind of stuff). His private spot in this realm is always locked. This spot is basically where he sleeps and tend to eat in. In the middle of the dome is where an orb lies. This orb what allows him to go about through a realm or into other realms, however he CANNOT go through time (Like The Doctor can) and he can only go somewhere that he has some sort of knowledge of... Unless he wants to be dangerous and spin the orb crazily and causing him to go into a random realm on a random place. He leaves and exit this place via "black holes". Whenever he selects a place, a black hole will appear and vanishes once he enters. To get back inside, all he need to do is take out a black hole from his pocket (Which a black hole will always appear in his pocket whenever he isn't in the Vortex, as truly he only have one black hole... It's magic, gotta remember that!). The black holes appears on floor when inside and in order for him to use one, he gotta throw it onto the ground and then be able to jump into it...
And that's it so far... Hadn't went much into detail of other things that he might have/do or villains and such....
