Ideas for DLC, game modes, equipment

Post » Sat Oct 13, 2012 12:37 am

The mission based, sandbox style design is great for dlc, easy to add mission packs of the sort. some ideas i have for dlc include:

1. smoke grenades/trap/mine : the ability to temporarily cloud enemy field of view, creates cover to move through when enemies are alerted.

2. flash grenade: could be tied to the smoke equipment but includes the additional abilities to stun enemies, and gives you the ability to assassinate or knock out aware targets giving players another way to take out enemies non lethally because besides sleep darts there is no other way to non lethally dispatch enemies when they are aware.

3. drop down knock out option: the ability to knock out an enemy when dropping down instead of killing them (not enough ways to go non lethal)

4. the ability to hit enemies with the hilt of your sword: another way to combat non lethally.

5. since fast travel to any area and just play for fun isnt really an option since you can replay missions, a mode to create assassination contracts to share with friends (kinda like the new hitman)

6. arcade mode?

7. since i havent beaten the game yet idk if this is possible, but to be able to replay missions and unlock all abilities could lend to a creative kill mode (could be included with 5) like after you beat the game, you could start creative kill mode that allows you to max out your character and come up with kills to share with your friends. maybe with an arcade style points system could include a leaderboard of some sort. a different take on game +

things i wish could be patched:

1. the ability to equip things in your right hand: its frustrating (at least on consoles) when you're trying to stop time, then blink, then switch to your crossbow to knock enemies out, when it should be possible to equip the crossbow/weapons (at least) to your right hand.

2. to have the blink ability as a separate button.

3. when you carry items like bottles, it should actually be held in your hand. (its not game breaking but it kills immersion)

these are just ideas, not all of them plausable but some i could find adding replay value and make the game better for people (especially those that feel that non lethal doesnt have many options). besides these, especially from the studio that brought us the not so good dark messiah: might and magic, this game looked amazing from the beginning and i am having alot of fun with it. people who say it is short are clearly not doing the side objectives and exploring what the world has to offer. although the graphics arent too good, individually speaking (textures and the like are horrible) but as a whole the graphics work with the art style and reminds me of a painting. although i cant help but think how amazing this would've been if bethesda worked out a deal with id to let arkane use the id tech 4 or tech 5 engine. this game's art style, mixed with the same engine that ran rage? wouldve been amazing..

this is just my ideas, not meant to start an argument. but i would like to hear your ideas for different things they could add, equipment that would suit the game, game modes, ect...who knows, maybe they'll look at these ideas and use them..

I agree with the majority of this stuff lol. I've beaten the game and really I don't wanna play back through it to get everything all over again.

I've beaten the game twice now. I think mission packs for DLC is a great idea because even my nonlethal playthrough, doing every side quest, finding every rune only took about 14 hours...big problem. And i agree that there needs to be more nonlethal option for taking a guard out.

Spoiler
what if covo had die in the end which he did and was placed in a tome or grave and then the emperis was to have a child and time went on and this so called void had bad things in it like all-sorts like humans that were sent to the void and the wild beast that have some what dark magic as well butt its new type of power you haven’t seen b4.;And they can do all shorts like the beast being able to transform into humans, like werewolf’s in a way but its because they have this dark magic to do so and maybe there can be a twist to it as well like the enemy’s you have encountered b4 like the guy who set covo up has be able to brake free from the void and so of all the over things that have come with it all and now they try to croupt the land and because of the void the they guy who set up covo was able to have a power that was really strong and leveled up to what the outsider had.And as the emperis son you was summoned by the out sider and he tells you how the world might end because he wasn’t strong enough to stop all off the wild beast and humans with dark powers from braking out the void and its now your turn to stop that from happing.because of all of what’s happening he asks for your help to stop this and he then shows you new stronger powers like never b4 like becoming invisible and being able to summon wolfs, birds so that you can posses one and fry around for a amount of time and you can use them to distract but they don’t kill the gards or who ever your using it against, your able to teleport maybe a bit more far this time or to use a power to open doors by using the force if you know what i mean so that the enemy comes out to see what’s going on and they see no one at the door and then a surprise attack from how ever you like to chose.more or less as for tools you could use maybe a gadget or wire that you can plant on the roof or up on the sealing to hang your enemies where no one can find them and maybe a poison gas bomb or sleeping gas bomb to get a range of enemies but you can only have 2 or 1 and some dlc’s like the bonus packs like the special edition ones to add in as-well so you have a fat piece of dlc there thats we can look forward to and more game play to it. sorry for my spelling but this is what i could get out of my head and Im not good at written my ideas down into words as much but this is what i believe to make the game more interesting and also the dlc should explain what the void is in detail and why does the out sider exstist and what does he want to do with the world and etc. thank you for reading if can read it

There are no official plans for DLC as of yet nor a sequel. What the developers HAVE confirmed is that Corvo's story is over in this game. They said that they were throwing ideas about DLC around but it will feature a new city from the same world (because the world map is quite huge) and a new protagonist.

How about rat armor for when I possess a rat? That seems like something I'd pay $5 bucks for.

That's exactly what I want. Hope it happens -- I'd imagine it probably will.

As much as I'd like to see the story continue, I'm not sure it needs DLC.
I'd love a sequel. I hope this game does become a franchise.
If it does, and if we do lose Corvo as Strifecross has suggested, I'd like to see the next one start off with Corvo's son.
I'm sure somebody can create a thrilling and captivating story that involves Corvo's bloodline.
Maybe The Outsider's mark has genetic effects, I got the feeling what we think is 'magic' is just technology man hasn't got the knowledge to comprehend.

If any more content does get released I just hope it's a costless upgrade to our armory that includes some baton-like weapon so I can knock the s.... out of guards without killing them.
Playing non-lethally is even harder when you use the heart and hear some of the f'd up secrets these people have.

this pisses me off. you seriously had to ruin the end of the game without making a point to SAY SPOILER ALERT.. this was unnecessary

i would like more missions. a dlc of what happened prior to the assassination of the empress? kinda how human revolution had the dlc that stripped your powers. the cool part about mission based sandbox games is they are setup for dlc. you could add on missions between the story easy that wouldnt affect it at all. i still havent beaten it, and i am upset about that guys previous comment confirming a big plot point. but ppl ive spoken to said the story itself felt rushed. dlc could slow it down and explain more things. this game has alot of cool lore behind it, as well as other cities id love to explore. a cool expansion could have a separate character that explains the outsider and his role with assassins. please no more spoilers

i would enjoy that. but in regards to having corvo in dlc.. who says that this has to be a continuation? deus ex human revolution's dlc was from the middle of the story. i believe that if they added missions in the middle, it would add more substance to the story. i still would like some sort of weapon/equipment pack. and a patch to include alternate ways to non-lethally dispatch enemies, besides sleep darts and choke holds.

Because Dishonored's story didn't have a time lapse. The only time lapse was Corvo's six months of interogation in prison. I was just quoting what the developers have already said. Dunwall and Corvo's story is over.

He didn't really ruin the ending, if you're talking about the Corvo dying thing.
Spoiler
During the end you see a picture of an older Emily putting flowers on Corvo's grave. No explanation to when & why he died.
When you think about it, everything dies at some point. (The spoiler isn't really major)

Edit: I had to read his post again, and if you're talking about the part about the void and some guy having powers that match the Outsider's I think he's just adding ideas.
