Ideas for how to claim a keep.

Post » Mon Aug 26, 2013 10:19 am

Was just thinking about keeps, and how they may set up for the guild to capture it. My idea is assuming once the NPC defenders are defeated(assuming there are NPC defenders) that a flag or the like will pop up that people can approach and basically once per account vote from a list of your current guilds or any guild that has already voted, guild with most votes wins the keep. It would only be up for like 1 minute and its per account so people can't just hurry in alts to add to their own votes. Someone not in a guild could still throw their vote to whomever. Also if a guild already owns a different keep they would not show up on the list of potential guilds, this would make it so a guild can only capture one guild at a time. In the majority of cases the guild that has the most members around when the keep is captured will get the keep, or politics could come into play where other guilds might partner up to get the keep. Like say two guilds with 50 members each and 1 with 75 but the two with 50 vote together helping them capture it for one of themselves.

Any other ideas people may have? What do you think of the idea, any flaws you may see?

The guild whose members contributed the most per capita.

So..... if a guild has 10 members but they all perform at 100% each they get the keep compared to a guild with 50 members whose members are all contributing at 50%. This would be hard to measure but I think it would be really cool. Gives the little guy a chance but would alienate players who aren't the best which could be a bad thing.

How do you determine who gave 100% and who gave 50% in your scenario? Seems like it would favor the the guild that had the least amount of people there even if they could measure it?

I was under the impression that our personal alliance points were listed in our character tabb.

Ok something different, but wouldn't that still favor a person who may have gotten high alliance points, but had nothing to do with the capture of this paticular keep. Or maybe your suggesting the amount of aliance points gained by the individual from the keep captures zone of influence during its capture would effect points put toward the winner of which guild claims keep. So instead of each person getting 1 point 1 vote each persons vote would count as there alliance point gain during that keep take. So someone that showed up right at the very end would give a couple points where someone with lot of action through a long siege could give 100's?

I honestly don't know the specific details. I have never been there to see what it's rules are

I just know what we have heard and that's just that you build alliance points as you fight in pvp (meaning each kill in pvp is another alliance point for you alone) I need to play it to find out what the real story is

Oh I was never implying you knew how it worked, or that anyone is. I am suggesting what I think is the best idea to work. So far as I know they have not stated anywhere how the mechanic of deciding who claims a keep will work.

Yes she talks about guilds claiming keeps, which I think has been mentioned by them even before this, and with DaoC doing it many felt it likely to happen. But she does not get into anything about how a guild goes about claiming a keep, or what is the path to decide what guild gets to claim a keep and that is the part I am talking about. I already understand that guilds will be able to claim them.

Its based on resources.. theres resources what players gathers (most likely..) and when those resources are gone, guild is captured. I think its kinda cool, more resources you gather harder your guild is to capture. Also this means gather skills are never useless, theres always demand.

It starts around 9:25. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cwsc_VknApg

Oh, by resources they mean, farms, towers etc. I hoped if they were gathering stuff, like wood, iron etc, but oh wait, theres upgrade possibility too.

Yes in that interview he does talk about the things surrounding the keep that will make it easier to capture, but realize that their is two different things. One in your alliance capturing a keep, and the other is a guild claiming a keep for itself. Multiple guilds will likely be involved in most keep captures, but their needs to be a system that decides what guild gets to claim it. Hope that helps and so far no video has gone into details on that. My Idea is regarding the claiming of the keep for a guild. Hope that helps if there is some confusion on what I am talking about.

Also yes good video it just doesn't directly go into the portion I am talking about which is how a guild claims a keep, only about the keep capture and what guilds can do with a claimed keep. What makes one guild get to claim it over another, needs to be a system and they say they are still working out details on the system, just giving my ideas on best way I personaly think to go about it. People who played games like DaoC or Warhammer might understand what I am talking about where it could be confusing for others.
