Ideas for magic combos

So this thread is for brainstorming ideas for how spell combos could be implemented. For example:

Fireball + fire rune = delayed blast fireball. Immediate damage of the fireball half, followed by the effect of rune a 1-2 seconds later

Frenzy + frost rune: Enemy turns to strike nearest target, rune explodes on first strike

Thunderbolt + lightning cloak: damage from the bolt + the cloak surrounds the enemy and deals damage to other enemies around the target within the radius of the cloak.

Ice storm + Frost Wall: similar to blizzard but centered around the target instead of the caster.



So, other ideas? :sorcerer:

Silent casting perk if you plan on having enemies look for you.

as for spell casting I use this:

no Armor+Mage Armor3/3(Alteration)+Dragonhide(Master Alteration) If youre Breton and have the Lord Stone(50% damage resistence, 25% Magic resistence(total Magic resist = 75)) and if you have Magic resist robes/clothes than youre immune to all types of Magic (Dragon Breath included)....


I flaunted around Winterhold when I found this out.. An Ancient Dragon as Using Fire Breath and biting me.. nothing worked

On the Gamejam video it showed a spell-combo that was fear + healing = drain health.
So I'm guessing lightning + healing = drain magicka, and frost + healing = drain stamina. Hey I tried. :meh:

summon flame atronoch+healing= summon spriggan higher healing or atronoch makes bigger spriggan male.

summon deadra+candlelight?= summon wisp mother

mage armor+fear= tangle roots. trap for 3-5 sec.

mage armor+fireball= ground slam staggering opponents in area.

frenzy+telekenisis= hex cloud low dmg per sec?

magelight+lightning= blind targets stagger for a few sec and cannot see?

calm+muffle= opponents cannot shout.

rout+pacify= opponent fights for you.

man im gonna think of some more in real detail and get back to you because its fun, and i hope they can make magic more interesting through additions like this.

anyone know if it is physically possible for them to add new spells in a dlc or patch?????

I would reallly like more earth, dark, and other diverse forms of magic!! pls bethesda hear my cry's!!!!!!!

magelight+lightning= blind targets stagger for a few sec and cannot see?

I can imagine this being like the regular magelight spell, but after a few seconds of floating it explodes into a blinding light.

Also, I think we should be allowed to have more than one rune placed at a time (rather not be a perk but if it must it must). It's loads of fun to place traps all over the place (behind doors, on the ceiling, under the table, and explode people, but the one rune limit inhibits me from being Trappy the Snare Mage.

Seems like DLC should be able to deliver that: in Shivering Isles, they introduced several spells like summoning flesh atronach, golden saint, etc., content that was not in vanilla Oblivion.

Excellent combo ideas, BTW. Keep 'em comin'. :D

Telekinesis + Ward -> A barrier that moves forward and pushes opponents away. Good for running or dodging slow power attacks...

Transmute + Iron flesh = Silver flesh

Conjure Daedra + Oak flesh = Conjure Spriggan

Bound Sword/Battleaxe/Bow + (Any Destruction) = Bound Weapon with added element enchantment depending on the Destruction Spell used.

Circle of Repulsion + Fire/Frost/Lightning = A ring of Fire/Frost/Lightning around the caster, acting the same way as the turn undead spell.

Repel Undead + Fire/Frost/Lightning = A wave of Fire/Frost/Lightning.

paralyze+tranzmutate= turn enemy into chicken.

soultrap+fear= cripple, slow movement 50% and attack damage lowered 25%.

soultrap+lighting= cyphon magica

soultrap+frost= cyphon stamina

GreaterWard+Ebony Flesh= +50% immunity to magic.

Repel undead+grand healing= 25% more damage against undead.

thanks man! DLC sounds good, we already see the new tricks the vampires have. maybe they will suprise magicians to? or if not now than definitely on the next dlc. maybe it will even be in the golden homeland of summerset isle :)

Well as people were saying the next one is speculated to be called Hearthfire, which is a conjuration skill book, i believe it was a year, not the month... the month is know as Heartfire.

Anyways, its speculated this one will improve magick ALOT. As i am now getting into Magick, im quite excited for that.

I suspect there will be the war with the Thalmor, or the Prelouge to the second great war, which will be great for warriors, and maybe archers and assassins.

conjure familiar + pacify = conjured creature attacks opponent. If it kills him (his soul), it takes over his body and his memories, leading him to live out his normal life but always available as your ally.
conjure dremora + rally = conjure a golden saint

Summon Flaming Familiar + Summon Dremora = Summon dremora timebomb! (has a fire cloak and explodes upon death)

Soul trap + Calm = target becomes an ally for x seconds.

See this is why I want spell combinations(along with more spells of course), I think it would be a fun feature :tongue:
