Iffy Games

I've played my fair share of these from Dark Messiah of Might and Magic to the recent Star Trek game. I'll explain the ST game since it's my most recent purchase.

Star Trek (360): This is the shooter that's based on the J.J Abrams movie and its between Star Trek and ST In to Darkness, the graphics are okay they could have smooth the characters out a bit, the voices are done by the actual ST actors so that's a bonus, You get to see a bit more of the Enterprise and you get to use it in one mission, it is a typical Gears of War Clone but it's only you and Spoke and not a whole squad. The game's story is typical for a ST game but I do have a minor issue with it.

The collision detection seems off when you bump into other people (sometime you'll merge into one) and the controls are borderline bad but still playable once you get used to it. Star Trek is a great game for a rental and maybe buy if you're a fan of the Abrams ST but I wouldn't pay full price for it unless it's a bargain bin or below $20.00.

So any of you guys played any Iffy games?

Lack of free roaming exploration like you'll see in Elder Scrolls games. When this game came out it was hyped to be the best thing since Oblivion but when it came out I found out you really don't have a lot of free roaming to explore...oh there's branching paths in some areas but it's mostly a fixed path you have to take or the game ends for no reason. The worst case is when you first arrive at this large city it looks like you can go and explore the place but no, you have to meet someone within a very short period of time or it's game over.

DMoM&M has an interesting combat system and for the most part it was a fun game---I just didn't need to spend full price for it :D.

No idea, I enjoyed that game a lot.

Also, if the game is good, then I don't really care if the game is unpolished and iffy. Deadly Premonition: The Director's Cut for the PS3 is one of the most unpolished games I've played in the past couple of years, and I enjoyed it a lot thanks to the story, characters and other things. Might even become the game of 2013 for me, and I'm looking forward to the PC release later this year.

At no point did the developers say it was gonna be an open explorable game like Oblivion, it was pretty much described as a HL2 in medival fantasy world with great combat system and a couple of skills.
