1.8 ignores [MapMenu] settings in 'Skyrim.ini'

Post » Fri Nov 02, 2012 10:20 pm

Just updated to 1.8 and now it seems that some settings in the 'skyrim.ini' file are just being ignored.

Tested (not working)
[MapMenu]
fMapWorldMaxHeight=XXXX.XXXX
fMapWorldMinHeight=XXXX.XXXX
fMapWorldTransitionHeight=XXXX.XXXX
fMapLookMouseSpeed=XXXX.XXXX

It seems that there were also some other settings being ignored as well, I just haven't gotten around to checking them all.

I tried large and small extreme values that would normally work, but didn't see any changes in-game. I launched the game normally to make sure that SKSE isn't affecting it. (dunno why it would, but never hurts to check) And I've made sure that 'Skyrim_default.ini' isn't controlling the settings.

I really have no idea what the problem is, and would check Update.esm, but the Creation Kit hasn't been updated with the game. :/

If anyone knows a fix I would appreciate it. Thanks ahead of time for any help!

Is this why I have no quest markers and player location marker on world map? Also, no door markers and of player on local map.
I disabled all the mods, it still happens...

oh yea. forgot to mention that as well. No map markers.

They've disappeared from the map.

Strangely enough, I take this as good news. What I'm guessing is the map system has been changed to accommodate for the next DLC's worldspace, meaning you can probably change height settings on a per-worldspace basis. What's even better is this might mean custom cloud meshes for new worldspaces, which is a world builder's dream at this point.
