Immortal followers

So I just finished the DB questline (I let Cicero live, so now he is available as a follower) ,also upgraded the sanctuary and I can hire two DB assassins. One thing I noticed is that Cicero and the assassins can't die and always fall to their knees after being defeated in batle just like essential npcs do (I have tried to kill them myself too). Is that a glitch or not? because it really brakes the balance of the game. I remember other followers being killable

I just tested this on the male DB follower. He won't die. Cicero is already dead, by Azura...
This is actually both annoying and amazing as I was gonna make him a Blade but now it's like he's the most useful follower in the game.
To confirm, yes my other mooks are all murderable.

UPDATE
These guys also don't seem to have that default hidden bow. I'm gonna test whether they will use decent enchanted bows, unlike everyone else.

Ok I can confirm that (at least for me on Xbox) DB initiates WILL use high level enchanted bows like Ebony etc. However they do not have infinite arrows like other followers and will switch to fists if they've nothing better.
I have yet to decide which one is the most lame. Both are sub-optimal!

I had thought that all of the followers around Skyrim were immortal?! Most of the ones I have follow me around just fall to their knees in Recovery mode but...then, one of mine ACTUALLY died recently! Weird. I was able to loot his corpse and everything. Pretty saddening as he was my strongest hireling :S

This breaks most of the questlines for me. Many of them are imortal, so your quests won't fail, but it also means that you need not do anything.

I'm pretty sure any follower you have is "invincible." They will always recover. The exception is if you are the one to actually kill them, be it on purpose, or because of accidental friendly fire. This has been my experience with the game anyway.

Consequently, that's how I lost Lydia. I didn't realize I was the one dealing the friendly fire at the time, so I lost her pretty early in the game.

All followers are flagged as essential. The only they way they can die, not including bugs, is if you kill them while they are on the ground kneeling after having losing all their health.
