A few minutes ago on the General forums I read over someone's comment about Corvo's Sword, they would have enjoyed having access to other swords as well; say a Guard's or Assassin's. Thinking on this I said to myself, "You know, it might've been a nice touch if you could knock swords out of your enemies hands, or they knock it out of yours."

It would certainly inspire a fleeting sense of desperation. Plus, you could pick up one of the many discarded blades littered about after slaying/incapacitating Guards.

I can easily imagine swords also sustaining damage if you slash (or attempt to) walls or steel, or even getting wear and tear from constantly locking blades with Guards. All the knicks, dents, and marks on the blade would be a nice touch.

Just a thought. Now, your turn. What do you think would improve immersion, should Arkane ever expand on the DisHonored universe beyond the DLC?

General gameplay :
Better AI. Guards capable of looking upwards, or able to restart machines you previously removed the whaleoil canisters from.
Maybe patrols a bit less predictable.
Gadgets for stealth-mode, there only are the sleep darts. Powers why not, even if they could use some more diversity. Skyrim got that completely useless shout which makes a location in space speak. A noise maker to derout guards from their patrol.
We can already blow the flames from some candles, but we can't interact with light at all. A better shadow/light mechanism, with the possibility to turn off lightsources, which is something quite standard in strealth games.
Choking is way too easy, especially with the Strong Arm charm - maybe a minigame or something to give them a chance and add some stress to the process. Only once did I let a guard go, because I was so damn bored with choking people I actually started pressing the "carry body" key too soon.
Possiblity to not take any weapons before attempting a mission. There is a way to sheathe the sword while keeping the power active in the left hand, but it'd be simpler to just never unsheathe it. Or assign another power to the right hand. Or keep the crossbow in left hand but get a power in right hand. You get the point ;)

Bonus features:
A timer on the mission stats screen.
A "replay mission" with more customization, high/low chaos, powers available, etc.
Achievement for no bodie found and a new step for the Ghost achievement, which would include the "no bodies found" one.
A real "ghost" achievement where Corvo didn't even hinted at his presence, except for the mess he left his main target in. That being said, it felt very disappointing to get "Ghost" in each mission and still have people be on the lookout for a mysterious assassin, with a portrait and stuff... No one even saw me for crying out loud!

And maybe some other stuff I can't think of right now :)

Fairly certain everyone on this forum would agree with/has noted the AI's lack of problem solving. To add though, Guards could start by becoming smart enough to either take cover when a commandeered tower starts bombarding them, or stop running into a Wall of Light/Arc Pylon after watching their friends get fried. I've sat behind a Wall and toasted entire areas.

Gadgets for stealth-mode, there only are the sleep darts. Powers why not, even if they could use some more diversity. Skyrim got that completely useless shout which makes a location in space speak. A noise maker to derout guards from their patrol.

Again, I'd say 'All agree'. The Outsider should have plenty of other magical goodies for Corvo and Pals.

A "replay mission" with more customization, high/low chaos, powers available, etc.

Would be nice if, at the beginning of a level you've beaten on the "Mission" menu, your Runes are left unspent and equal to the amount you'd gather throughout all the previous levels. Just so you could experiment with different combinations at your leisure, but perhaps that'd make it too easy.

I thought there would be a Telekinesis power like Dark Messiah. The Daud assassins seem to have some kind of Telekinesis to pull you towards them. It could be handy if you could use it as a ranged "use" command as well like pull oil out of arc pylons, pickpocket from a distance, pull weapons out of someone's hand, pull a sleeping body towards you after tranquilising them or pull the oil tanks out from the back of a Tall Boy. I think Tall Boys could have used a nonlethal way of neutralising them like that. Pickpocket should also let you take ammunition from guards so they can't shoot back.

Or, perhaps being able to disarm them (literally) without killing them. Turn to shoot. Oh, sorry, with what hand again?

About the Telekinesis, don't forget that during the assassination of the Empress, it was also used to lift Corvo into the air. Probably going to be released in the Second DLC, where Daud is supposed to be the playable character.

Tallboys... Agreed.

I think something like a billy club might be nice, either as a left-hand weapon or right hand substitute. It would take three times more hits to bring down an adversary, but it would allow you to beat him unconscious instead of killing him. And you could also clobber him from behind, put him out faster than the standard choke hold.

And in addition to being able to select swords (different speeds, reaches, lethality), maybe other weapons of opportunity, like a frying pan (not lethal) or ax axe (definitely lethal).

Maybe a fireball "spell" you could use, too. I like the rats, don't get me wrong, but variety's always good.

That could easily go with what I said earlier, about being able to lose your sword and replace it. I can imagine an enemy's surprise when you're deflecting their sword with a frying pan before beating them over the head with it. Instant K.O.

Fireball sounds like DisHonored moving into pure RPG territory. :D

When I think about it, a wider variance of structures might've been nice too. When I was moving through buildings I kept realizing they were practically identical to other structures in previous levels. Even the text on the walls is repeated too many times for my liking. Might've been fun to play Santa Clause and drop into someone's house through the chimney, lol.

Maybe. But everything's better with fire, cats, and/or zombies.
We already got weepers, so zombies are more or less covered.
Cats would be cool, but I don't see how they would fit into the game.
But fire is doable.

Didn't say it was a terrible idea, it's already a Psuedo-RPG.

I RP in just about every G.
Well, not every one, actually.
You can't RP Tetris.

For some reasons people tend to think that a "RPG" is defined by the fact you've got powers/talents to unlock, or sometimes by the fact you got turn by turn combat. Or levels... I'm always very annoyed when I read that "J-rpgs" are ... RPGs. I loved Legend of Grimrock wholeheartidly, but I can't accept the "RPG" classification. Hack N Slash like Torchlight 2 are twisted descendants of RPGs like Baldur's Gate, but they aren't RPGs anymore. Still, people continue to throw the "rpg" classification to those games, because they have "levels" and "loots".
Dungeons and Dragons was initially a DMT game ( door-monster-treasure ), and the whole RolePlayingGame terminology was born there, but... As far as I'm concerned, "playing a role" involves behaviour choices rather than "am I going to learn two-handed swords or fireball"?

What makes Dishonored a kind of RPG would be the fact you can choose to be a heartless assassin, a merciful savior, a never-seen ghost, a parading punisher who love to be seen... Resulting in either low or high chaos, as well as personnal satisfaction. But adding a fireball or anything is hardly relevant to the RPG genre as a whole :P

[offtopic rant off]

That said, yeah, I'd love to have more RPG elements in Dishonored, like more impactful choices. Does telling Emily she can or can't stay in your room when Callista is not available have any impact on the game? I don't think so, but it would have been fun.

I think there are several actions of that nature, ones that seem irrelevant but may affect something. Signing the register at the party may be such an action, too.

Here's a change I'd like... different skins for certain characters, so they can periodically change their clothes. Most notably Emily. Her court outfit is cute, but it seems rather uncomfortable. Especially to sleep in (and with her shoes on, no wonder she's tossing and turning). I think that since she's empress and all, someone could at least get her a nightgown.

That's strange, during my high chaos play-through I got that but on my stealth playthrough I got http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/595859641624265528/054646656721DAF8A6DC573B39A0F0FB7C8DCF66/. Perhaps it is tied to chaos level rather than being spotted or not.
