improving your stat's

Post » Fri Jan 28, 2011 1:47 pm

When making a character, I am reluctant to dish out stat's one way or another... because they greatly influence your ability to suceed in post apocoliptic America. Will you be able to sightly improve strength perception and charisma? things like that?

They have taken out boblbleheads and have added implants. Have not heard exactly how the implants will work and what skills or specials they will/can effect.

As far as I'm currently aware there has been one method of improving stats mentioned, via a surgical procedure. Although we don't know if it can only be done once per stat or more, it also costs money to be done.

There may also be the perks from Fallout 1 & 2 which allow you to increase a specific stat per perk once per stat and only once. Personally I think the Intense training perk which was available in Fallout 3 was a bit too much overkill.

Intense training was indeed an overkill (although, not as much as it could've been if the stats had made a bigger difference). Personally, I think increasing stats should be as rare occasion as it can get, so that one has to live with the choices one has made. That, of course, means that the stats should also be more effective for the increase to be rewarding - but Obsidian seems to have covered that, at least to a degree already. Even +2 for every stat (perks & surgeries) could potentially be too much (IMO).

Having less and less ways to permanently increase them would have an upside of making statincreasing drugs and gear much more worthwhile.

True enough, although there will be at least some people who will want to be able to max all of their stats at 10 purely because if a character isn't 'perfect' then it's not good enough.
Personally I'm happy enough leaving my stats as they are once I've created the character as having deficiencies with a character at least for myself can be a lot more fun to play than a character that is an all over maestro at everything.

one thing to remember you only get perks every other level now.
And skill books/magazines aren't permanent.

They re-form your ears into four leaf clovers and use radiation to forever color them green!

I'm pretty sure the Luck implant was described as a probability calculator or something to that effect.

Luck implant is a 'Probability Calculator.' No others have been named yet.
