Incoming facelift to appeal younger audience?

I know it might be shocking for some people seeing me kicking in a negative post, but as people say, there is first time for everything

I would like to highlight couple of pictures Sordak took from the E3 video that made me a very sad dunmer

Here you can see the new giant. Instead of the ES-realistic giant we have been presented before (http://images.uesp.net/thumb/0/0d/SR-creature-Giant_02.jpg/600px-SR-creature-Giant_02.jpg), this one looks much more pretty (read generic), obviously having hairdresser and taking great pride on his hair. As Sordak pointed out, he misses the swirls over his body, which are the language of the giants that used to be understood by Nords (and perhaps still is, as cows ment as tribute in Skyrim were painted with them)

Probably Coldharbour, hopefully Coldharbour. If its in Tamriel its nonsense, we have seen vampires in dwemer ruins and castles, we have seen necromancers in caves and abandoned forts, but we havent seen one of those in Tamriel. Lets face it, this gate reeks with Lich King Arthas coming out of it and Naxxramas floating in the distance. Again entirely new level of generic fantasy being pushed into Tamriel

A Harpy, we havent seen those since Daggerfall. Execept that in Daggerfall we have actually seen them as old hags combined with bird body http://www.uesp.net/wiki/File:DaggerfallHarpy.gif - unfortunately our ESO harpy apparently immigrated from a korean mmo

Those being the few new pictures we were shown, I am really worried about the gritty feel of Tamriel we have been always presented and many of the fans love. Is this a turn to appeal larger (yourger) audience and people with lower attention span playing consoles? I am not entirely sure if this is the right direction and where is the borderline. At this point, I wouldnt be much surprised if I meet a gang of hobbits on their way to Red Mountain, insisting they need to throw some ring in there

You're so right! I'm afraid Elder Scrolls will slowly turn into generic fantasy, all to appeal the kiddies. :(

You do realize designs of creatures have pretty much changed every ES game right? The key is that they are still recognizable. Further you can't expect such realistic graphics when the goal is 200 players on screen. The art style will also give a longer life to the graphics as stylized almost always out last realistic graphics. (BTW. The giant shown ins the skyrim picture could be a old giant, while the one from ESO could be a young giant)

I'm not a younger audience. (My first TES game was Daggerfall and I loved it, followed by Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim).

And I have no problem with these new visual interpretation.
I do however agree it's less gritty assuming the other creatures in the game will follow the same trend.

But then grittiness is really not one of the reason I've played or liked TES games. So that might explain why it does not bother me.

And ditto to what Nothv13 just said above.

The thing is that in earlier builds we did have an Elder Scrolls giant http://oyster.ignimgs.com/mediawiki/apis.ign.com/elder-scrolls-online/9/92/SGiant2.png

I somehow dont belive giants have affinity for haircare they tend to loose with age

There is so little detail in that shot (the head is quite pixelated) you can't make that claim. Also it is not a matter of hair, but simply the fact that he doesn't have the years of of dirt and grime an older giant has.
