increasing weapon damage with skill

Hi, I would like to bring Skyrim a bit closer to Morrowind by tiing weapon damage among other things to the actual skill, not to the perk levels. I have found a way to do this with magic damage (Great thanks again, Mysty), now I would like to do the same to do the same to weapons, but for some reason, it does not work.

To elaborate: for magic I used the existing perks and changed the flat bonus to: Mod Spell Magnitude Multtiply 1 + Actor Value Mod Destruction(and the other magic skills) *number*

That works like a charm

However, if I try this with "Mod Attack Damage" and "One-handed" for a skill, I can save the perk without problem, but if I try to re-opening, I get a warning:

"DIALOGUE: Could not select actor value !one-handed! (6) in LoadDialog for BGSEntryPointFunctionDataTwoValue"

and the skill is replaced by "AbsorbChance"

Well, does anyone know, what the problem might be? Why does one thing work for one set of skills but not for other? Any imput would be welcomed.

Well, I had that problem too, but it's apparently just a creation kit bug. If you just set the effect and don't touch it, it will work in the game.

Also... for attack damage you can just change some game settings:

fDamagePCSkillMax
fDamagePCSkillMin
fDamageSkillMax
fDamageSkillMin

I think SkillMax is the damage multiplier for level 100, min is the damage multiplier for level 3, but you can test it by simply looking at your weapon damage in inventory when you set the skill to 0 and 100.

I think it only affecte melee, but I haven't tested with magic so I'm not sure.

Uh, you do know that weapon damage is tied to skills in Skyrim, right? Not only that, but it isn't in Morrowind. The only thing affected by weapon skills in Morrowind is your chance to hit, which would be a very silly thing to bring back to Skyrim.

Maybe he wants to make it affected by the skill more.

It is? I ahve not played a melee character, so I did not notice, but from the test I did while trying this, it seemed that the increase is very small. The perks have a huge effect, but the just increasing the skill seemed almost useless. Well, anyway, thanks for the imput from both of you. I'll take a closer look at it again.

P.S.: by the Morrowind comparison, I ment the fact that in Morrowind, the skill as itself mattered, while in Skyrim it is more about the perks, but it was not well worded, I'll admit.
