Incredibly Important Yet Simple Mod NEEDED

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 6:29 am

Currently, unarmed is completely unsupported in the skill-tree system. There were rumors about Unarmed being assumed under the "Two-Handed" skill tree, but they are wrong. There IS a perk that allows heavy gauntlets to add to unarmed damage, which is amazing for scalability, but there is NO way to gain skill in any skill-tree by using unarmed. I played for around 3-ish hours using only unarmed abilities, and the ONLY skill I gained was by taking hits, gaining heavy armor skill. Khajit's also gain an original (+15 I believe?) innate damage to Hand to Hand attacks. Hopefully these two points will be enough justification in what I'm asking.

Two kinds of possible mods could be made to fix this, which I will denote here as the "Simple" version, and one kinds of a "Complex" version.

Simple fix: Make Unarmed attacks level Two-Handed weapon skill / one-handed weapon skill (probably makes more sense due to your ability to dual-wield fist attacks) , and make their damage based off of that skill.

Complex fix: Additionally, make a kind of knuckle-type weapon available in the game to allow us to enchant our fists like weapons. (Or make gauntlets have weapon-enchants. Whichever is easier)

Also: if possible, maybe make a new skill tree entirely for H2H, but specifically all I care about atm is the simple-fix, because I cannot even play the character I was hoping most to create, because Unarmed is literally 100% unsupported, in the way that attacking with your bare hands does not grant ANY skill gains, so you cannot level using it.

I'm honestly hoping for the "Simple fix" ASAP.

Thank you mod community very much for your time and consideration, and I hope this will be fixed quickly (at least the simple version) for me and all my H2H bretheren.

Shouldn't it be under one-handed because you're dual wielding fists?

Honestly, I don't mind WHERE it's put, as long as it's put somewhere. It's just that the original rumor entailed it being assumed under the 2handed tree.

Let's put it under stealth then? Fists don't make noise when carried around like swords do.

Well, it needs to be a kind of weapon skill. But nonetheless, if anyone knows how to begin to write a mod for skyrim, please give me some info and I'll attempt to make a quick-fix myself. (The simple sort). Am I supposed to use the oblivion editor for skyrim?

Well of course it hasn't, but there are mods out there already for skyrim. That's what I'm wondering. How are they making mods? And like I said, I think this is such an easy fix that even I could write a mod for it with the limited coding knowledge I have.

Thing is Both mouse buttons throw a punch, it should be its own skill, hell the animations are their and the finishers, hope we can get a skill tree up and call it a day. I call it, Options Restoration project ;D

those mods you are seeing are very mininmal and half of them are wallpaper ;p some are useful though. give it time ;d

Same way they did for Fallout 3. Hex editing. Thats why the mods are so simple. Once the editor is released we will be able to go in and see how things are set up.

I can almost guarantee you that new skill and perk tree will be impossible though.

Yea, like I said I don't really mind if we can't get a NEW skill, or new perk tree, I'd just like at least 1 perk tree have something to do with unarmed, especially since there is a whole slew of what looks apparently to be support in unarmed, yet 0 skill tree associated with it. There are killing-blow animations, racial perks, and a Heavy Armor perk... yet using fists doesn't gain skill in anything, so you cannot level up using fists. It literally just looks like an "OOPS WE TOTALLY JUST OVERLOOKED THIS" mistake.
