Installing to 360 hd will not affect textures (says Pete Hin

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 8:16 pm

Just tweeted Pete Hines (VP of PR and Marketing at Bethesda) about it. He confirmed that installing Skyrim to the 360's hd will not result in low resolution textures. Those of us who'll be playing on the 360: we can stop worrying.

Me:@DCDeacon Should we install to hd if we'll be playing Skyrim on the 360? Some say installing will result in low resolution textures.

Pete Hines: @tothedogsforme No, it doesn't work like that. Installing is fine. Playing off disc is fine.

Someone who hasn't pirated the game needs to confirm this.

Hines is a tool, since he's head of PR. You'll just have to wait until Friday to see if it's a problem or if it's just a fake rumor.

ugh can we just get a real anwser from someone who has a legal copy of the game? I'm seeing loads of "i got Skyrim!" posts, well is anyone who actually legally got the game even saying anything about this texture hiccup? -.-

I trust Hines more than random people trolling on the interwebz. Until I see otherwise, I will be installing Skyrim to my 360's hard drive.

Thanks for asking that, I feel better now, but could you ask him one more question? ask him to explain all the photos that seem to contradict what he just told you.

we already have and I can undenyable proof such is real from various sources, this is part of the game not pirated but the game the gold/vanilla game. Feel sorry for those who will not be able to patch up due to lack of interwebs.

There's no way to tell if the people posting the issue have legit copies or not because the game hasn't been officially released yet. Just sit tight and wait til Friday to see if it's confirmed by the playerbase as a whole, not a handful of shady sources from the web.

Not sure if I trust Pete Hines, he is there to sell the game and has no technical knowledge .

Not sure if I trust the internet too.

If it wasn't true though why would people be complaining? I mean I would be too busy playing Skyrim to make some crap like this up?

To sum it up... Not sure...

he is clearly talking in general and is not aware of this. We need a respone from a developer, not from somebody in Marketing. arghhhhhhhhhhh

Nothing against Pete Hines, but I won't accept that the issue is a non-issue unless an actual dev from Bethesda confirms it.

Actually there is various people from Netherlands have posted such repeatedly on various sites, Actual footage with actual pictures with actual game case and everything. This is a issue in the real gold edition your going to get on 11th and if you don't patch it (if the 11th patch does fix it may or may not) this issue will occur.

I have heard the patch does nada as it's already out. Can you clear up if installing it to memory stick fixes it from what you have read? I'm sure that's what I read - HDD has issues, memory stick doesn't.

Can a mod contact Matt to ask the dev team? This topic keeps cropping up a lot.

I don't have a memory stick and I won't buy one just to play Skyrim the way it should be playing in the first place.

Day 1 patch will fix this. Probably something beth left in the game so anyone who pirated the game would become upset. Is it game breaking? no. Do I care if it doesnt make my game crash? no.

Actually, if it does exist you don't know if the patch will fix it or not.

yes the patch that was released doesn't do anything, their may be a patch on the 11th as well which may fix it. Whether or not it will or if there isn't even one remain unknown until the issue is resolved with a a patch that fixes such it will remain.
