I stumbled across this whilst updating my Gigabyte P55-UD4M motherboard. It asked me to turn off Hyperthreading to update the BIOS, which I did and once the update was done it was automatically back on again.
I tried RAGE and got the usual low framerate issues i'd been having since the UK Steam unlock (Friday) so the BIOS update itself didn't help, but then I thought I would try turning 'Multithreading' off and when I played RAGE again the framerate didn't dip below 35FPS
That might not sound great considering my PC specs but prior to this i'd been getting as low as 20 FPS whilst driving about. I used 'RadeonPro' to get the framerate comparison, and it's definately faster now (Though still not perfect)
Worth a try, let me know what sort of results you see. This is my spec below:
Intel i7 860 (2.8Ghz)
Gigabyte P55-UD4M (BIOS F11)
4GB 1600mhz RAM
AMD/ATI 6850 HD
Windows 7 64 bit
Catalyst 11.10 + RAGE hotfix
NO CONFIG FILE & NO LAUNCH COMMANDS.
Hopefully this isn't just a random occurance and might help other people out! Post your results below
