Interesting Dragon Battles

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 10:09 am

So what have been some of your most interesting dragon battles?

My first one i would say was interesting was one decided it was a good idea to to drop into the middle of the Winterhold College... lol me and like 10 other mages toasted him in about 2 minutes.

My second one was one caught me out in the plains beside Whiterun and chased me al the way to the city. out of curiosity i entered the city to see if it would follow into the separate cell. it did and me and all the townsfolk had a good time with it. after i absorbed the soul in the little court yard just below the jarls place i turned around and the whole town was sitting there staring at me and remarking how it was amazing that i just absorbed its soul.

They have dragons in this game that aren't quest related?! Ok all jokes aside I still have yet to run into one that isn't quest related and I am almost level 10 :(

It was the first time I decided to use dual wielding combined with elemental fury,

The dragon went down in less than 5 or 6 seconds. I was completely amazed.

The most interesting are the ones where they attack where I have help. It -does- make it simpler, and yet it's still more interesting. When one finds me alone in the wild, it's mostly a flail around frantically while waiting for it to land, smash it with some spells and melee, then flail around another rock for it to land again (Maybe yelling at it occasionally).

But when it's attacking a city, outpost, etc... I just love seeing everything go nuts.

I don't see how that can be. I run into them fairly often and have gotten my butt handed to me by some and won battles with some others.

I had a giant help me kill one, which was crazy. I had some random horse help me kill another - the horse got the dragon trapped down in a river under a bridge. It was a great fight.

I had two interesting Dragon encounters in a Row. The first I was surprised to hear the dragon call and swoop over me, seemed like I was too small of a snack because he wanted Giant, I helped the giant fight off the dragon but then when the beast was slain (I smashed his leg with a mace after getting him down) the Giant attacked me. I took care of the giant while running away and casting ice spike. Soon after I then encountered a dragon on a word wall and he attacked, he was a weaker dragon than the one before and I took care of him with my lightning staff and lightning spell. After that one, I approached the wall and a Dragon Priest came out, I was way outclassed, had to take cover and dodge fireballs, sometimes warding and healing, he was using a staff so I couldn't stop him by draining mana with lightning but I was able to beat him after a long fight.

i had some random guy talk to me mid battle and said something like "take this sword, i'll find you later then give it back to me, if you don't i'll kill you".
he then ran away and another guy came a few secs later and said "did that guy give you a sword?"
i said, "yea, i assume this is yours?"
he said, "yup" he took it then left...
strangest thing to happen during a dragon battle!!! :D

Level 19, ~20 hours played. I've killed the first quest one, and two wandering ones. I've seen a couple more circling in the distance, but that's it. (Of course, I'm not very far along in the MQ.)

Grrr this is crazy hearing you guys say you ran into so many random dragons and I have yet to run into one of them! As far as main quest goes..... *EARLY SPOILER* .... I have only just killed the 2nd quest dragon where you go up to the dragon burial grounds or whatever. The one where the big black one is there talking to the other one on the ground, and you kill the one on the ground.

was outside Mothal in the swamps, Dragon was pulling some wtf manuevers in the sky, like nose dive spilling in place or pointing face down at the ground while circling like a tornado, that mess was so bugged, it wouldnt even land.

lesson learned, Dragons can't land at swamps.

I had a similar occurence, i was getting back all my gear from a quest where i had to give it to someone else, then dropped a piece of armor i found on that quest in a bar i was at, then some guy in the bar came up to me and asked if i was going to keep it and if not if he could take it? I told him where to go, but yes, i was rather surprised by such a random event. Seems to be lots of little ai scripts in here that really add the sense that the NPCs can almost think, in some cases.

My favorite one was when I was in the middle of a blizzard up near Winterhold, I couldn't see twenty feet ahead, when I suddenly hear a dragon scream and epic music playing. Now, you see, I don't play with a compass, so I was terrified, so I started to run as fast as I could, but I soon found myself at the edge of a massive cliff over the ocean, so I turned around, and that is when the dragon landed just in front of me, just as the choir went "Dovhakiin, Dovhakiin."

Desperate and cornered, I charged valiantly, and I fought toe to toe with the beast.

It took off after I had done quarter damage, and it flew overhead in the blizzard as I tried to get away in the snow, but it kept on my tail as I narrowly avoided its fire attacks.

After that I don't remember all that well. Too much adrenaline.

All I can recall was swift, chaotic melee with desperate runs from the dragon as it strafed me from above.

But in the end, I barely won, and I cried as I absorbed its soul, for it was a truly worthy opponent.

P.S. :tes:

A dragon was attacking me and I was fighting back, then it went after a giant and its mammoth companion. The giant easily killed the dragon with only a few hits.

Slightly off-topic, I really wish there were a spell to conjure up a giant. That would really freak out townspeople.

maybe the stronger raise dead spell? but you would need a nearby dead giant for that to be effective.

My most interesting one so far was coming out of Whiterun after an Imperial quest (the awesome one) and spotting a dragon in the distance. I got on my horse and rode after it. I was kinda surprised that it wasn't just attacking me directly, but flying away. So it flew off and I followed it, and it went and attacked an imperial fort close by. They were all firing arrows at it as it flew over and sprayed them with fire. By the time I got there half a dozen imperials were dead and we shot some more arrows at it and then it landed and I finished it off with some flames while they hacked at it with their swords and it ate a couple of them. I retrieved 25 arrows from its body. And the guards standing around after it had died were saying stuff like "I would never have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, a real dragon". It was epic. And then I was overloaded with dragon bones so I "stole" one of their horses, but they didn't try and attack me which was nice and I rode back to Whiterun.

And I am going to go to a town and drop something in front of a child right now and see what happens :D I love this game!
