It's interesting since I've never had anything to do with Blizzard's games, not a single one of them. In addition, the " _ " things in the middle of the text is a bit weird.

So there's two options: This is a BS email containing links to unspeakable horror (which I've removed from this post, just in case) or someone has used my email to create an account. Which is the most likely scenario? Either ways, I will be manually changing some passwords with my accounts around the internet, but with nothing to do with this email. I will not click the links :P

What's the best way to proceed, and the worst outcome of different actions?

Note: I'm truly sorry if this is against forum rules, as I'm unsure if it is or not. I will, just in case, insta-report this for a moderator to see so they can delete it if it's not allowed.
Thanks,
Gorbad.

Ever had a battlenet account? If not then it's probably a poorly targetted scam.

They probably just used your email from there. It's a phishing attempt.

Question: Do you think that a large corporation like Blizzard would be sending that kind of emails from sites like email.com, hotmail.com, gmail.com or yahoo.com?

Answer: No. They have their own domain(s).

Conclusion: Ignore it. It is a pretty blatant attempt to cheat you into clicking those links, serving all kinds of malware to your computer, or trying to get you to enter personal information, like, say information on your bank account.

A phishing scam. Just Google "It has come to our attention that your account is involved in illegal transactions." and you will see.

Trash it and forget it. :)

It's a scam. I had one of those directing me to a site in India. Interestingly, it was sent to my old Elder Scrolls address that I used to register here back in 2006, which was presumably amongst those lifted in the Anonymous hack a few months ago.

It looks like a poorly targeted scam. If the links are a bunch of stuff with "battlenet" or "blizzard" at the beginning but end with ".somerandomsite.com" it is obviously a scam. I got something like that the other week in my fly-paper email account that pretended to be from pay-pal (my pay-pal account is not associated with the email in question) that wanted me to verify my account and the the url in the mouseover preview was secure.paypal..healthfoodscentral.com. Needless to say I didn't fall for it and deleted the email.

I've also gotten the occasional message that I supposedly made a Battle.net account but those get deleted immediately now.

The random dashes and underscores are just spam-filter avoidance tactics.

Most likely a scam. Blizzard games are so popular that they can send those to anyone and they got a pretty good chance that person plays a blizzard game.
Personally i hate blizzard as a company. The only good games they ever made was starcraft 1 and 2 and warcraft 1 and 2. Everything else by blizzard is just garbage imo.

Can't you check the email of the one who sent it?

Eg. BlizzardAdministration@yahoo.com
