Interesting NPCs Mod

Here are some lists of voice actors if you haven't seen them already:

- http://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimactors

What's with your name? You don't do that, do you?

Anyways, cool project OP. I would love to help, but I don't have a mic and is currently a bit low on funds. I have never done anything like that before, but I'm told my English is great and I get top grades.
So the language is in, but I'm unsure how my voice would be. Maybe I can help you guys out sometime later.

Locksley,
Thanks for that. I think Eldar's the only offender. Larkspur was too but I fixed him last week. The secondary "See me at my store" dialogue was there, but only triggered if he was at the Drunken Hunstman. I changed it to "all of whiterun" and will probably look to add additional conditions for the walk between whiterun and whitewatch tower.

EDIT: Looks like there's a distance check. So he should only generate the "Welcome!" dialogue when at the Tower. Outside he should say "see me at my store" and "drop your stuff off at the chest in Whitewatch tower" I believe the rest of the dialogue refers to Whitewatch Tower as an entity and doesn't have to be location specific.

Well, there is a voiced-only version up now, for those playing without subtitles. :)

Cheers!

Might have been an engine bug then. When I got into Belathors store he announced he was selling wares. When queried his dialogue was clearly misguided, mentioning his chest as if it was right there. I really got the impression he had set up shop in Belathors interior at first.

When I run into him again I will double check :D

Also, I have yet to see him at Whitewatch tower so he might have gotten stuck somehow.

Good to know you are ontop of things, it is truly a great mod!

Thanks Locksley, I guess my edit sounded like the check was already there. I meant to say I added it, so the newer updates should correct the location issue. If you find anything else, let me know.

I'm one of those people that is a little bit scared of installing big mods that add tons of content, NPCs and so on so, naturally, I had my doubts with this mod. Then I saw this: http://static.skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/images/8429-1-1332484726.jpg and watched a related video. Man, I'm still laughing while typing this message. I love Relic. Downloading now!

This mod is going to be amazing when you get it completely finished. I installed the voiced npcs and they are fantastic. Beautifully written dialogue btw. A lot of mod creators lack on that but this one's is great.

Glad to see people enjoy Relic, I had great fun writing his dialogue, I may go back to adding some more at a later date.

Kris wrote the dialogue on all but that NPC, so he can be credited with a lot of fantastic writing. We need some female VA's to voice some of the existing characters, then the mod would get finished much more quickly. (having all guys is so... eh.)

Version 1.43

  • New NPC Nitter at Solitude Lighthouse
  • Made Farmer and Fine Clothes random so NPCs don't wear the same thing every day
  • Added greetings to Eleanor, Orondil, Dagri'Lon, Zarlak and Jeerah-Nur
  • Re-Calibrated Eleanor's Voice files to match volume of other NPCs

Well, I can point you in the right direction at least; TES Alliance VO guild - Actors
http://tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/topic/4028-join-the-voice-actors-project/

Also - Usually I play male characters but lucky for you I always, since Morrowind, have a standard PC I play and that is a Dunmer Woman.
Moris the Draugr - does not discern between sixes; he though I was a male. An easy mistake with all the scars and such, but still :bunny:

Which line was the offending one? Couldn't find the specific line, although I guess there's "horker's uncle" but that's more of a general insult, and "horker's aunt" just lacks the same punch. I can remove the "still no comely women" line, as I suppose some players might be female and comely. But if there's something really bad, like refer to the player as "guy" then that will require a re-record.

Found it.
DialogueMoris DialogueMo_DialogueMoris1A_000118EA_2 \DialogueMo_DialogueMoris1A_000118EA_2.xwm File Found That was fast. These Nord women, I tell you, they're hungry as sabrecats, and strong as 'em too. Sometimes they even bite like them, so watch where you stick it.

thanks locksley, good catch. Fortunately, it's one where i can remove the "stick it" part and just cut the audio instead of flagging down the actor.

Right. But you are keeping the full response for males, right? As dialogue can make that distinction in the CS.
Stuck in a cave for while so I haven't come across any more NPC's yet, but boy are they good :D

Looking forward to the quests! So far I have only "browsed" the NPC's and not gotten down to any serious discussions.
Seeing intermingling of NPC's; them acknowledge the existence of each other and original game characters, maybe even unlocking more dialogue or quests only when getting to know more of them and thus giving rise to building a network of contacts. Hmm, long sentence...

Cheers!

oh yes, the line will only be truncated for females. i like the original line too much to can it for men. moris was an early creation, so a lot of those NPCs have way less lines and a lot less conditions, from when i was figuring out the CK. going forward there should be a lot less of these issues, albeit it's still hard to account for every possible scenario without helpful notes from players like yourself.

Having Roarian try and figure out dialogue scenes, hopefully we'll add NPC to NPC interaction soon. That's like my number one goal, as it will open up a whole new level of immersion and dialogue opportunities. This is an NPC mod, after all.

Hey, wonderous work guys! This is definitely my favorite concept for a Skyrim mod I have yet seen being attempted. I've been thinking that if no one was going to do this that I would have to start it.

To that end, though, I noticed there is no set of criteria for voice actors listed in the original post, since I am interested in doing VO this struck me as odd as I imagine some of the topic's viewers may also be parties interested in doing VO. Could you post such criteria (or, PM me)? VO is something I'm confident I can do well and would gladly help with provided technical expertise with the CK is not particularly high.

There's a dialogue script you can download on the Files section of the mod page. Basically it has a list of all open parts, along with basic outlines for each character and lines. Currently, the male parts are sparse, as you can imagine they get filled up quickly, but there are still 6 or 7 open now and more being made each week. The criteria are basically acting ability and sound quality. There is technically no deadline once you've been chosen for a role, because quality is the most important thing(I admit, earlier I didn't have a larger talent pool to choose from and wasn't as discerning, but as it grows so does the standard I guess) However, despite their being no deadline, there are instances where I've given roles to people 2 months ago who still haven't shown me anything and don't respond to emails, so there's a limit to how long I will wait, albeit arbitrary.

EDIT: Oh, and you can email samples of any character you want to voice to my email kristakahashi@gmail.com

Was planning on waiting till more characters were voiced before downloading, but think I might just get the voice only version now since I like the idea of this mod so much.

Would love to be involved with the project; have sent an email to kris_takahashi with a few voice samples :)

Given a recent voicing call, a few more characters should be added to that version in the foreseeable future. The one that also included the voices has a little more content though, mostly a sizable quest and just more people. :P
