PC Interface: Tried to adjust but it just gets worse

I'm about 25 hours into Skyrim and after I finally tweaked my graphics (enable Ambient Occlusion on Nvidia cards, biggest awesome improvement) it looks pretty decent - besides the crappy low res texture detail.

But the interface. It is seriously worse than Oblivion - I didn't think it was possible. I thought I would get used to it and I have, in some ways but there are some things that just constantly defeat me and could only be the work of moronic development - or at worst a development staff who basically said, 'screw pc gamers, not worth our time'. PC Controls are truly a complete afterthought, crammed in only after console design was fully done. A definitely feel that a big middle finger has been extended to PC gamers which ironically typically offers the best gaming experience and is the home of the most vocal group of gamers.

So I boiled the interface issues down to two basic complaints that there is just no work around for:

1) Mouse svcks. You can't play the game on a PC without the mouse but Skyrim really wants you too. At every turn it keeps mocking you for using a mouse yet at the same time requiring it to look around and aim.

Skyrim: Look you can aim your bow so beautifully with that bow!
Me: I know, right its great! I love the mouse! Let me just change my arrows....
Skyrim: svckER!!! You can't click on that! ahahahahahaha

Yep, obviously a serious bug where you have to click on stuff twice. And sometimes you can't even use the mouse at all, yet inexplicably sometimes you can only use the mouse and not the keyboard for other inputs. A total slap in the face.

2) Item/Spell Management. CRAP there is a TON of items and spells to manage. Good thing I have this awesome keyboard with limitless keypress combinations!!! NOPE. Instead I'm stuck with a miniscule favorites menu which I can only assign 8 items to hotkeys from. EIGHT FREAKING items out of ALL my armor, weapons, arrows, potions, spells, shouts... you've got to be KIDDING me. I have a spellbook the size of a Tolkien Epic and during battle I have to open a freaking menu to change spells!!!

After 25 hours, this has just gotten way way out of hand. The amount of stuff/spells I have are just completely ridiculous to manage. This is where you can see the middle finger was fully extended as there is not even a way to assign 9 or 0 to a favorite on the PC. THANK YOU BETHESDA!!! Yes, we get it, you hate pc gamers and wish we would just stop buying your games. Yes ok, really we get it.

Ok modders get to work and fix this intentional mess for free, so Bethesda can focus on getting all their DLC ready and make more money on content that probably should have been in the game to begin with.

How did you enable ambient occlusion on an nvidia card?

When I try to do it in the nvidia control panel the option is grayed out and it tells me the application does not support it.

I followed this guide:

http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=1318588

Basically it tells how to set Skyrim profile and then use Nvidia Inspector to force it on. Worked great! You will not believe the visual difference! (I have a GTX 580 - yrmv)
