As a reminder, this is more of a temporary thing until a better one goes up. I just felt it had to be done sooner rather than later.
Where to download mods:
Mods can be downloaded currently from SkyrimNexus (part of TESNexus) and TESAlliance.
How to install:
Currently there are no mod install managers, but they are coming soon. At the moment, you need to navigate to your Steam folder and drop them into the Data folder. It is located at */Steam/steamapps/common/Skyrim/Data
To activate the mods, you click on them in the Data Files menu when you launch the game. Only mods that use ESP files need to be activated this way, the rest will be activated as long as they are in the proper folder structure in the Data folder. Eg: textures/
On making posts:
All requests should begin their titles with [REQ] and releases should begin [REL] or [RELZ] while works in progress should begin [WIP] or [WIPZ]. This will help make things much easier to find. At the moment, things are a bit of a mess.
For requests though, try to keep them to the Unofficial requests thread. It is located here: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1264223-unofficial-mod-request-thread-2/
Other:
No, mods cannot be used on consoles. To create a mod, you currently need to re-purpose Oblivion's tools or FO's tools. The official editor is not out yet.
For meshes, use Blender. For textures, use GIMP or Paint.net.
Also, search before posting. There have been multiple threads and posts that have been exactly the same. This just adds more to dig through.
