Internet Data Caps svck

Post » Sun Feb 10, 2013 5:12 am

I've been looking at services such as Netflix and Hulu.
What absolutely svcks is that all the ISPs that provide for my region of Alaska don't have unlimited data plans. Its about $1/GB on my current plan.
This REALLY svcks when most of my data is taken up by downloading xbox/steam games.

Video streaming takes ludicrous amounts of data to stream.

I understand this can be a problem in places like Canada or other countries.
It erks me that its the only option where I live, but its not really a problem for the rest of the USA.

This is mostly just a rant, but it does warrant disscution.

Its because you live in alaska. It is super expensive to lay down cabeling, let alone to Alaska, so they have limited overall bandwidth and must split it up among everyone there.

So while it may indeed svck, at $1 a GB, (that is horrifying, as brand new SSD is cheaper) it is understandable why it is this way.

Its perfectly understandable. I live in a relatively remote place, I get it.

Can't I unreasonably rant about something?
Isn't that the American way?
