Invasions from Akavir

Post » Sun Jul 24, 2016 5:35 am

Could someone inform me as to the number of times the Akaviri have invaded Tamriel and the details surrounding those invasions? I was re-reading Sermon 17 and was wondering if the Akaviri have indeed invaded three times as it says in the Sermon.

I'm pretty sure there were three, but I cannot find the information on a third one at the moment. Here are a couple good starting points:

http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Akavir

PGE 3rd Edition section on Akavir: http://www.imperial-library.info/content/pocket-guide-empire-third-edition-akavir

In 1E 2703, the Akaviri tried to invade through Pale Pass (a quest in Oblivion goes into more detail about it). Reman Cyrodiil and his armies routed them but allowed some to remain in Tamriel. This led to the rise of the Akaviri Potentate Versidue-Shaie to usher in the Second Era. The "2920, Last Year of the First Era" in-game book series goes into more detail about it, although how much truth there is to the books is up to you (perhaps more so than most other books in the series).

In 2E 572, the Akaviri invaded again, led by Ada'Soom Dir-Kamal. Jorunn the Skald-King's Nordic forces, Almalexia's Dunmeri army, and a timely arrival of Argonian troops quashed the Kamal invaders, but it isn't entirely known how they were defeated. This directly led to the formation of the Ebonheart Pact.

One time, it was actually Tamriel who invaded Akavir in 3E 288, which you can find information on in the book "http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Report:_Disaster_at_Ionith."

I thought there was a third invasion, but I may be mistaken. But I don't see it in UESP or the Imperial Library at the moment.

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Mysterious_Akavir also mentions that Akavir has invaded at least three times.

Thank you. Was the invasion in the First Era also supposedly when Vivec flooded Morrowind to prevent the invasion from going that way, or was that the Second Era?

That's right, it was in "Mysterious Akavir," but I still can't find where it goes into more detail about a 3rd invasion.

The one where Vivec supposedly flooded Morrowind was in the Second Era.

Aside:

Does anyone else appreciate how absurd Mysterious Akavir can be? Its one of the few books that quotes a god, and it does so completely out of hand. "Yeah, Akatosh's brother says he wants to slaughter Tamriel." Come again?

I don't believe that Tosh Raka is in anyway related to Akatosh.

They're mirror-brothers.

That wasn't even the drive of my post. More along the lines of "this quote comes out of nowhere." The book's as clearly a developer document as Arcturian Heresy.

I thought that it was Vivec's flooding of Morrowind that forced the invasion in the First Era to be redirected to the North of Tamriel. Also, if the flooding occurred in the Second Era, then what was the need for Almalexia to combat the Akaviri, considering Morrowind would have been safe from the invasion due to being underwater.

Still trying to find the source that mentions the flooding of Morrowind. I looked through MA, but I couldn't find anything about the Flood.

Sorry, it was the Second Era. Found the description of the flooding in Varieties of Faith.
