Invincible Ghouls

Inside Vault 34 clearing out ghouls when I encountered one Vault Security Guard who won't die. Every time I kill him he simply goes unconscious. Is he set as an essential character? If I use the console command to make him non-essential will that disable steam achievements?

UPDATE: It seems there are a handful of them that merely go unconscious and can't be killed.
Is there a reason for this?

I have also found an invincible ghoul on the road from Novac to Repconn Test Site. I am able to kill the others but the very first one I come across can only be knocked unconscious. The game just updated so I'm not sure if this was an existing bug or if it is a new one due to the patch.

Yeah, I've got this issue as well, just downloaded the patch. I can kill everyone in Primm, including the robot, but most of the ghouls near the California Sunset drive-in to the south are essential, as is the coyote den mother living in the trailer south of Primm. :/

Got tired of trying to complete the Vault by running towards reactor while constantly knocking out ghouls. Couldn't do it.
Ended up just using disable on the unconscious ones.
Also after leaving the Vault, 3 Golden Geckos were apparently essential.

Appears to be an issue with the latest patch. Hopefully the next patch fixes this (and doesn't break anything else).
