Well, agree about de-balancing, but that's a mod concept after all. Mods can de-balance a bit. Or a lot. Still, I would prefer keep balance more or less intact, otherwise I would use some "unlimited resources" stuff. But also I wonder, if things are balanced here now. Thing is, after all, possibility like that seem perfectly logical. As logical, as frustrating may be the lack of it.
Maybe some explanation, where my idea came from: After 191 hours of gameplay I'm on 41 level, have probably less than half possible settlements, part of them far from my optimal "vison", yet I already completely ran out of wood, steel also is highly problematic, no mentioning copper (and my "vision" isn't that crazy like building some skyscraqers every settlement, simple wall around settlement can drain basic resources fast). While I literally stumble each two steps on some untouchable wood or steel source. There are four sources of such materials known to me: loot, settlement surroundings, salers, and settlers designated as scrap collectors. The first is far too scarce as for wood (the more, structures need lots of it), so to collect enough, I need far too much time. The second - too limited, the third - limited and expensive, the latter - I'm not sure, but seem very ineffective. If one with bold imagination would like to have all the settlements "optimized" then he would need to play, say, 1000 hours? Just to collect enough materials. For such people such mod would be a salvation, still keeping immersion, staying logically consistent, avoiding god mode stuff.
But again, I agree, some limitations should be made. Two are natural: inventory capacity and the fact, only some objects may be dismantled. Another logical limitaton may be in-game time needed to avoid player acting like vacuum cleaner. Or another idea - player can't do it personally, but can mark an object for one of designated scrap collectors in the settlements. One object at a time per collector, and collector need obviously considerable amount of time to get there, dismantle, return. Also possible obejcts should be limited to the wrecks, scrap piles, trees and such. Just a loose thoughts, solutions may be many.
That's good idea indeed.
