Ive had this game since it first came out.

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 7:02 am

Still I have yet to play it even once. Ive deleted and reinstalled it half a dozen times, updated my driver with the one recomended in this forum, downloaded from the disk only, downloaded from the internet (which took forever by the way). Ive done everything in my power to play this game and still nothing has worked. I can play all other games like MW2, skyrim, homefront, fallout new vegas, etc. Can someone help me, I paid $60 for this ame and I even got the anarchy edition but it still isnt working.

The whole fact that you downloaded the downloadable version states that it's not the game that's wrong, it's other things in your computer, most likely Steam. I hate Steam with all my gut.

Of course I might be totally wrong, but I know it's not that game that's the problem. If it were the disks I'd believe they were messed up, but you also downloaded the freakin game.

A blue screen pops up and on the top and bottom it states " ***************************
GL_ARB_draw_elements_base_vertex not available
***************************
"

If this means anything to anyone and they know how to fix this then it would be great, thanks again.

"GL_ARB_draw_elements_base_vertex not available" means your graphics card does not have all the OpenGL features needed for this game.

You'll need to post your system specs for anyone to help you.

Unfortunately Intel graphics are hit-and-miss when it comes to games. Some here have apparently gotten Rage to run on it.

What drivers exactly did you update?

Your only hope is that Toshiba has a driver fix for your Intel graphics. Other wise there is nothing that can be done.

The drivers are all kept up to date automatically through the toshiba website. As far as graphics though im pretty sure that nothing has been changed with it. Any troubleshooting or ways around this? Anyone found a solution? [censored] Can I at least get to the main menu and maybe play a little?

Sorry man...there is no way around that fact that the game engine, OpenGL, can't load that function.

Go here: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect/graphics
use that tool to let it check the driver for upgrades.
I have Intel HD Graphics in http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1254667-intel-hd-graphics-driver-update-for-rage/page__fromsearch__1 and using the link above allowed me to play Rage on it.
If you have the http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1354597-rage-running-on-my-intel-hd-3000-30fps-say-it-aint-so/ Rage runs pretty well at 30+ FPS with it and the latest Intel HD driver.

The graphics drivers provided by Toshiba are rubbish and out of date, and can't be updated by proper Intel drivers through regular means. You need to download the correct driver from the Intel website - get it here: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Graphics&ProductLine=Laptop+graphics+controllers&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+HD+Graphics

Then use the "have disk" installation method to replace the Toshiba driver with the Intel one: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-029635.htm (instructions for Vista; also apply to 7).

If your Intel is actually capable of running it, that should see you good.

Good to see you got it working. I knew it could if you got the correct and latest driver installed.
Seems Intell did some updates to OpenGL parts, as Rage wouldn't work before the last two update drivers where released.
