Ive Lost ED-E!

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 11:01 pm

Apologies if this is in the wrong section, but im pulling my hair out.

I completed the quest in Vault 22, the one with the plants and Spore monsters which resulted in blowing up the gas leak. After exploring for an hour afterwards before i did another quest, i realised that although i still have the sensors perk, ED-E is nowhere to be seen.

The best advice ive found so far is that this is a recognised 'bug' with this quest and the only way to solve is to reload an earlier save.

The only save i have from before my current auto save is 5 hours of gameplay ago.

Are there any other suggestions on how i can get ED-E back with out having to replay the last 5 hours?

Xbox version by the way.

Cheers

I hope ED-E didn't blow up in the gas leak explosion. That is if your playing hardcoe.

If you go back to Vault 22 and take the elevator to the 5th floor all lost companions will magically be by your side after the loading screen. I did this on 360 I got ED-E (aka Tard 1) and Boone (aka Tard 2) back by my side. Hopefully this fixes your lost comapnions bug.

I went back in to do the other quest for Vault 22, cant remember what its called, but no joy. Ill give it another go tonight and see if i can get him back. I wouldnt be bothered if i could get him back at all, just dont want to be denied being able to do future quests as a i cant tell him to go wait anywhere....

Luckily not on a hardocre playthrough this time!

My latest on this....

Ed-E just runs to Black Rock. If I go there and fetch her, she will run to my side until I fast travel... she comes with me, but runs back to black rock as soon as we get to where ever we are going.
Im on PC, and even if I use the console commands to bring her back, she just runs there again...
At this point, Ive given up on power armour, as I cant get the quests from that loser (even with Rep @ idolized by FotA), and Ive given up on the Ed-E quest as I cant get her to stay with me long enough to get anywhere with it.

I've lost ED-E and after a few hours of gameplay IT just went back to Primm. The whole time he wasn't by my side(lost somewhere in the world) i still had his perk i think what happened is i told him to stay somewhere and forgot where, most likely at The Fort and had to get on with my life lol so i just kept going.

I think this is why most companions dissapear is we tell them to wait. Or, they get stuck on a clipping mesh and we leave the cell. With ED-E flying like he does, I see him getting stuck more often than anyone else would. I am not sure if the new patch does this for the 360 yet, but now there is a map marker showing you where your companions are so you can get back to them easier when you tell them to wait. If that has not made it to the 360, when it does, finding your companions again will be easier.

Oh, and OP having one save for every 5 hours is not a good idea, companions or not. You should have a manual slot for every 30 minutes, just because sometimes things will glitch or not work out the way that you want.

I have now learnt my lesson on the save intervals front.

I ended up going back to the old save to get Ed-E back. Went to one of the other vaults to fetch something and guess what, ED-E gets stuck in some of the scenery.

Good times.
