Japhot's Folly

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 11:13 am

From the uesp:

"Once you have discovered the location (via the quest), do not return, as you will be unable to depart. Japhet's Folly is so far away that it is its own "world" in the game and has its own boundaries. You are also unable to fast travel away from Japhet's Folly; you are presented with the same message as when trying to fast travel from an indoor place."

So my main character is a goner, eh? (No console commands, 360) or perhaps someone knows something I don't?

So the game let you return there (after the quest), but now that you're there, you can't leave? And no console commands. Reload an earlier save. You can't have lost that much game time there.

I'm guessing you tried swimming away manually?

Edit: Wow, I just looked on Wikia and UESP and they confirm it. I'm glad I never got around to going back (planned on it eventually). ...but, to my original question: what happens if you try to swim away? Invisible blocking object I assume.

Hey OP do you have a friend with Skyrim on PC or have access to a PC skyrim? If you do I'll pass on a little knowledge via PM but you need to keep it under wraps for now. It's the brain child of another person here in the forums but he's currently indisposed and I don't want to steal his thunder by giving his secret away  soooOOoo PM me and I'll pass on the goodness it should solve your problem :whisper:

Alas I had explored a tad bit and all auto saves are on the island itself ;p

Hopefully, or possibly a patch portal!

Anything that could help, may help, so let me know sir.

Edt: There are invisible walls all around the island, I even tried going very deep in the water in hopes to swim under them or something lol.

Are there any guards around so you could commit a crime and get teleported to a jail? Or do you have any other active quests that will teleport you somewhere, like the start of the DB quest where you can go to sleep and be teleported to Astid's shack?

As my main character, I have a total of 3 quests actice in my quest log, 1 of which is darkbrotherhood forever, a glitched quest I can't finish for the mage's college and some petty fetch quest.

It's good to see even after several years this community is just as helpful as they once were.

Carrots,
You don't need to be all cloak-and-dagger about this. It's been discussed in the open forums before and it's not considered a taboo topic. Carrots is referring to the fact that you can export your Xbox save to a thumb drive, convert it to .ess with a third party utility, then load the game on a PC version of Skyrim. From there you use the console to fix stuck quests. Resave the game, convert back to Xbox save, and re-import to your Xbox. One or more forum members have even volunteered to perform the service if you PM them.

Dammit, now I have to kill you
Yeah that's pretty much it, I was trying to keep it under wraps until Bleakwail had a second chance at a topic but it seems he has dropped off the radar  I'm lucky, my brother plays on PC and seeing how I'm the older brother it doesn't take much to twist his arm  It's great!!! I just cannot figure out how to equip Nocturnal's dress on my female toon :swear: ( perhaps for the best for the wife would :slap: once she saw what I was wearing  )

Perhaps one of the PC players can help you with an import/export save and have them console command you out and you retrieve the save.

Besides that, there is no known way out on console.

I don't know if it's breaking the rules or just bending them  I don't think it breaks the terms of agreement you agree too when singing into Xbox live  It's still great, being able to get yourself unstuck or to get the items that are unattainable( like the Greybeards robes )
