Jarl Siddgeir HAS to go

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 3:32 am

Oh my gosh this guy SOOO ticks me off. He's ticked me off with my first run thru, my second run thru and now my third. First and second run I just forgot about him. This time, no way. Jarl Siddgeir HAS to go! I'm embarrassed to say I went and got his mead, thinking I could gain his confidence and ultimately turn the tables on him. I've tried to waste this punk every way I can think. Dang game thinks this piece of wasted human flesh is essential. Really?

Has anyone successfully wasted this garbage?

One time I shot an arrow into his eye.

He told me to stop doing that.

Only way to get rid of the guy is to play with the Stormcloaks and take Falkreath Hold for them. Then he relocates to the basemant of the Blue Palace, and his crazy uncle who thinks everyone is an Imperial spy gets his throne back and makes his clueless servant girl his steward.

Stormcloaks, everybody!

Yeah, he's horrible. I think I'd actually rather have Maven as a Jarl than he...maybe.

When I was fooling around with the console commands recently (I wanted to convince Captain Lonely-Gale that he was willing to marry my character), I went onto a marriage spree in frustration. Jarl Siddgeir can be married. I suppose that this would be the ideal way to get him out of Falkreath, because it was quite hilarious to make him cook me some meals and to let him set up a humble little shop in Riften. The only thing out of place were his clothes, but I guess I could fix that as well with some mod or with the console, if I'd be really motivated to have him as a husband.

I use to sleep in his bed when in Falkreath anyway, so that part of the marriage wasn't such a big issue.

Yeah, anyway... I am not sure if he or his paranoid-delusional uncle are worse for Falkreath. Dengeir's neurosis reminds me too much of Skald the Elder's personality traits, and that one isn't really meant to rule as well.

At that point it's time to run.

Siddgeir is the better Jarl. Not because he's actually good at ruling, but because Nenya is. She's the real ruler of Falkreath, and manages to make sure everything's running okay in the Hold. If Dengeir takes over, his maid Tekla becomes the new steward. Not only is she inexperienced and unqualified but Dengeir doesn't trust her to being with, making her attempts to fulfill her duties for nothing. Furthermore, Dengeir's so paranoid, I wouldn't be surprised if people like Lod, his former bodyguard, either arrested or executed for being part of an "Imperial plot."

Long story short Siddgeir's an unqualified, lazy, rude, corrupt, arrogant jerk but has qualified people tending to his duties while on the other hand Dengeir is crazy, paranoid, untrusting, and probably dangerous, and has a woman he doesn't trust and doesn't know what she (or he for that matter, since he won't confide in her) is doing acting as steward, making their administration less effective.

I've always kind of loved that about the dudes you can marry in Skyrim. Especially since I tend to try and go for whatever manly ones I can manage to sink my claws into, like Farkas or Vilkas or console-assisted gets like Cyrnic Endell. They're all manly and awesome and then you marry them and it's all "It's sooo good to see you again dear," "I'm thinking of opening a shop, you know, selling odds and ends <3," and "BYE LOVE <3!" It's so out of character and adorable I want to vomit unicorns.

Make him wear the female version of Tavern Clothes...or Nocturnal's dress. :P

Or use the console to make him a girl! Problem solved.

Like when you go into Pelagius' mind and you see that woman he dreamed about that has Belethor's voice?

sixchange

Without an argument it works on the main character. Tag a NPC using the cursor so that its ID appears on top of the console windows and enter the command

Also worth noting that changing your or an NPC's gender will not change their voice. So if you ever wanted a transixual character, good news, everyone!

Also also worth noting that you can change a mannequin's gender to get them to show items as they'd appear on female characters. You've only the option to change them all to female or keep them as they are, you can't pick and choose. But most of the gear on dudes looks gross so hey it's worth it.

Lots of good insight and suggestions here. I reckon I'll go with the Stormcloaks this go around just to get this juvenile punk down in a basemant where he'll be forgotten. Once he's there, is he still marked essential?

Unfortunately, yes. Said tag is only removed when a script calls for it to be, and his never comes up as eligible.

...

This thread has made my evening. :P

@the OP, there's a way of doing the Season Unending quest in the MQ where you can get him kicked out. I think you have to make the Stormcloaks angry at some point and they'll demand Falkreath.

I may have found a solution: I Dead Thralled an Ancient Vampire chick (pretty good-looking actually) and took her to his quarters, 'killed' her, stripped her down, and laid her on his bed dead hoker style. Nothing brings down a politician like a dead hoker.

This is why I'm glad I play the PC version; no one is truly essential.

He's not that bad. He's annoying, but he's functional as a jarl. No complaints from his people much.
