A Jarls justice. They just can't tell that the dude's a Vamp

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 3:29 pm

One thing that has kind of annoyed me is the Jarls justice quest. Where you have to prove the "adviser" is a vampire or get arrested/pay a fine for murder. The annoying thing is you've gotta pickpocket to get proof on this "person", which is pretty inconvenient considering I don't have anything in sneak or pickpocket.

What makes it strange is that no NPC can tell that the dude is a Nosferatu. I mean a guy from the Dawnguard comes up to you, and says that the mysterious stranger with the bright glowing orange eyes, pasty white skin, and pointy teeth is a Vampire. And they don't believe them?

At least let me cast the sunlight spell on him as a test. If he doesn't burn to death he's not a Vampire, if he does then nothing of value was lost.

Everyone knows that the people of skyrim aren't very smart. After all my vamp character with her trusty death hound and glowy eyes can waltz right in any hold city without people batting one eyelash. Despite numerous attacks from vampires with glowy eyes, and death hounds on cities.

Enthrallment.

This is what I console myself with. But why does he have to make it so obvious that he's a vampire? Why?... *sob*.

That's what I said. But in the end I just said '[censored] it,' and incinerated the damn creature, then ran like hell out of town.

You're lucky at least. Mine is currently bugged to repeat in Riften. You would think that Laila would kinda trust my word after the 15th vampire I've burned, but nope!

Why can we pause right before death and chug down 6 health potions, 3 stacks of cheese, some horse steak, change weapons and stuff and nothing happened in the game world xD

Nothing is gonna be realistic. The perks, the sneaking, the NPC's awareness. As a vampire at like lvl 20 I could sneak, shoot a guy point blank with an arrow, he'd run into me, I'd keep shooting, and he'd just keep running straight. He'd never see me lol.

Pay attention to what gunmar is saying before you get the quest you ask him how the vampire is doing this and he tells you that they use magic to cloud peoples minds.

Even the Dawnguard can't tell who is and isn't a vampire without using their big ol' skylight. Maybe the glowing eyes aren't actually real at all, only there for the player to look at?

You may be right. Maybe they just glow, so that the player can distinguish between vampire and regular npc?

Vampire's eyes give people illusions that they look normal, but the Dovahkiin is too powerful for that and the Dawnguard have trained themselves not to be fooled by it. Also, how do you get the Jarl's Justice quests? I've just been getting quests back and forth from Gunmar and Florentius (I did all the Sorine quests) and when I ask Isran if there is any work to be done he just tells me to speak with Gunmar or Florentius.

Vampirism is kind of stupid. It was bad enough when they just had the funny brown eyes, but at least then people would realise what's going on at stage 4.

Now your eyes glow, and nobody thinks twice.

Don't forget that Vampires are Illusion masters , people don't actually see these eyes , the Vampires trick their brain so regular people think they have regular eyes.

No one is reading what I am saying gunmar explains how the vampire gets into the court no one takes the other conversation options they just take the quest and walk off.

Does it say this in lore? If that is so, then howcome Serana asks the player "Can't you tell just by looking at me? I'm a vampire!"

Or the face changer recognizes you as a vampire, only to berate that she doesn't work on dead flesh. They may be skilled in illusion, but they can't blend in.

NPCs are definitely meant to notice, at least in regards to the player, because I'm sure you have had an NPC comment to you "Don't like those eyes you've got. There's a bad hunger to them."

That may have something to do with the fact that you've ventured to a place filled with vampires and that she came out from a sacrophagus.
