and I was lookin' for tech support in unleashing my 4 core beast :P if that is a presumably good idea that wont hurt performance as mentioned, or even to enable the "secondary" Three cores, leaving the primary core to the computer for computing~
you need an affinity changer if you want them to stick.
Assuming windows, not all of those works on every version.

Still assuming windows, you can use the task manager and set them, but then it won′t stick, and yeah,it can help some
Personally I have mostly used them to get more out of my gpu′s in boinc or f@h.

theres been a bit of confusion :P
see? one website kev, cfx, folding
the other.. clip, fold, me~
and I was lookin' for tech support in unleashing my 4 core beast :P if that is a presumably good idea that wont hurt performance as mentioned, or even to enable the "secondary" Three cores, leaving the primary core to the computer for computing~
In regards to you showing up in the allprojectstats (or other stats pages), I understand. It seems they update new team members slowly. Both jax and Kivan took many days to show up. Don't know why it updates that so slowly. I posted a query on their forums about that, but last I checked no-one responded. I think jax covered the other question... However, if you don't care which processor is "unused," on the BOINC client, you can go to Tools -> Computing preferences... -> processor usage -> On multiprocessor systems, use at most % of the processors where the number would be how many you'd like to reserve for normal usage. I don't recall if it is per core or per "processor." But in this case it shouldn't matter since you want to save 1 core/2 processors anyway so you'd set the number to 75%.

Can merge your hosts:
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Host_identification_and_merging

Since WCG and the rest of the bunch differs, dunno why or how,it just does, sometimes a merge is needed, had to do it my self once so I guess it is something that is done
No guaranties what so ever, suggest doing it the hard way and actually read what is on that link :P

After looking at the dc Vault-page for Team Elder Scrolls (and it is the people behind dc vault who includes various dc projects, not me ;) In regard to F@H is listed there too, just to avoid any misunderstandings :P Which is normal out in the big world, like [H] and the likes, second in F@H and 6 or 7 in total, "We" with the same logic would be 193 :whistling:

Anyway this small team have an impressive coverage of most of the "normal" projects = Those who is just added in the manager without added requirements like Seventeen or Bust and the likes.

boinc dc vault missing projects = no team,no numbers, no green, we want green :D
http://www.dc-vault.com/showteam.php?team=537
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
spinhenge = have been running this one in the past, might make room for it,personally I′m more interested in other projects.
malariacontroll = we miss this one.
poem = coming up in the stats any day now (nothing much,a slow core or two).
lattice = wasn′t the fastest with giving out work when I tried it briefly.
collatz = have been running that one,a good one for older ati-cards (used an hd 2900 there),if it haven′t changed now though,I run only cuda based projects my self.

Fixed. And added you to the milestone thing. I'll probably only add milestones on anyone above 1M credits per each 1M credits they increase. :) Unless you mean you're missing from the members list on allprojectstats...?

Einstein is the only one I know of (only really run it and SETI anymore.) It's found over a dozen new pulsars since it started looking for those as well as LIGO data.

However, sometimes what isn't found is just as important as what is. :)

I'm in! Same name as my forum name. Only running a laptop for now, but may add my desktop as well. That one's not on quite as often however. Is it worth running it for only a couple hours a day? I have a GTX 460 and quad core i5-2400 in that.

Awesome! Welcome aboard. Any little bit helps, though if you're running for only a couple of hours a day, I'd recommend finding a project with really short work units so your computer doesn't waste time working on large workunits that will pass their deadline and expire before completed. Milkyway@home has some workunits that are small, but you could always look around for other projects that work for you. Again, welcome! :celebration:

jax or Kivan, etc. have anything else to add? Feel free to chime in!

For running only part time with cpu should work just fine since they have more generous timelimits, GPU′s is a bit different.

One way to do it,is to set your "additional workbuffer" to a very small number, smaller than the standard 0.25 to 0.10 or 0.05 depending on how much work you want, anyway when starting your boinc manager it download work to meet the settings for "additional workbuffer" if possible (if there is work available),then you just click on "no more task" and let your pc do the work you got.
Depending on how fast your pc is,and settings for individual projects as milkyway and gpugrid have separate settings it can be adjusted if it is desired,it takes so and so period of time to finish the downloaded tasks. Settings for additional workbuffer can then be used to adjust it for your situation :)

Even if you usually have a few days to finish them, but gpugrid′s long tasks is better to stay away from with part time-setups,besides gpugrid operates with bonuses for faster returns, it is similar to f@h in many ways, including points and science ;)
