Jump height

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 7:01 pm

Seems kinda low in the vids I've seen (haven't played it for myself just yet. So I was wondering if there are any items or perks that increase jump height -even just a little. I'll miss my ranger being able to leap to the safety of a large boulder to rain arrows down on the less agile enemies below. (game still looks amazing though).

Hopefully modders can fix this. Even just adding the ability to enchant items to increase jump height would be great. I don't need to fly, but two additional levels of jump height (at least) would be welcome.

Of course. This is a very minor alteration to make. We'll be on top of that.

Personally my first project will be modding in missing Oblivion and Morrowind spell effects, that'll include Morrowind's Jump and Burst of Speed spells. Although I'll evaluate the latter carefully to minimize overlap with the dragon shout and make it more like a medium-duration moderate haste spell.

Burst of speed exists. It is called sprinting and it is tied to your stamina pool.

Magic should also have ways to make you faster but I suppose that's a fair point.

Stupid Bethesda, removing acrobatics...

The frustrating thing is, they probably did it because they were running out of ideas for Shouts and decided to repackage some of the benefits of acrobatics.

Thank God for you smart modders out there! So what other Dragon Shouts effect acrobatics-related actions besides the whirlwind sprint and ability to jump FROM high places (instead of to them).

I will really miss acrobatics. I had fun in Oblivion just trying to jump over or on top of boulders, or from one boulder to another, while enemies scrambled for a way to either reach me or evade my torrent of arrows. Skyrim will be amazing, with lots of nice things for Hunter type characters, but again thank God for you modders out there.

yea only thing i have seen about skyrim so far that i dont like is the lack of acrobatics i mean thats one of the main reasons i fell in love with morrowind going from a hop skip jump noob to a vampire with 175 acrobatics clearing buildings lol although tom howard himself said that future updates may even change games core mechanics i guess includeing jumping mechanics possible pre empting the dissapointment of long time elder scrolls fans

God bless the modders. Dunno what we'd do without you.

I've already been whining about this elsewhere, but I'd take any chance I can get to rant :)

Modders will most definitely be able to add this later, but the bad part about this is that the game world won't be designed for the benefits you can get from it.. for example I probably won't be able to use my über-jumping skills to get into someone's house as part of some cool Dark Brotherhood quest (jumping up on the balcony and picking the window lock). It simply won't be a viable option since said quest was designed for a game that has no high jumps (i.e. there will be no balcony etc). It will feel a bit silly playing a bad-ass assassin completely unable to scale a house wall and unable to compensate for it by jumping high. This will be the first Elder Scrolls game I won't be crawling over roof tops at night :( .. guess I will have to take out my frustration on the poor dragons.

What about sneaking in a one story house at night through a window? Still an option?
