I just can't do it anymore.

So since pretty much the game came out I have made a character to play the main quest and the stormcloaks side of the civil war. I have made a nord greatsword wielder and I finally came to the conclusion that I hate melee combat now. It seems like every time I am just about to make contact with a kill shot the enemy enters their kill cam on me and if my swing would finish its course it would definitely make contact before the enemy finished his swing. So I want to make another dragon born character but use a bow and arrow for this new one. Might make it female this time. I think I'll go with enchanting this time and make an ice bow to go with my nord warrior theme.

Kill cams/special animations in combat for both sides is pretty bogus as it is.

I can have the same complaints about how dragons can pick you up and toss you aside, killing you. I was neither in the spot it put me in, and I could have countered said attack if I had control, but NOPE.

Archer class is the most popular style in Skyrim. I have enjoyed being an archer a lot. I think you would like it, too.

I don't get the kill-cam hate. The game is not cheating with kill-cams, folks.

I never understood the point of enemy killcams. Unless there was a perk or ability where you could dodge a kill shot.

They're just a little cutscene. All they do is replace what was going to be a killing blow anyway with a more dramatic death scene. You're the hero, why not get a good death scene if you die?

Well on my last one I was just inches from striking the final blow on a bandit chief when all of a sudden my camera went into third person and the bandit wound up and dealt me a final blow. It was literally a wtf moment as there is no way my shot should have stopped just so I could have a good death when I should have gotten the kill.

Because it clearly wasn't what I was doing before hand. I was not standing in the spot it put me in and I could have prevented death if I had control.

People keep telling me this, and yet despite the fact I played a melee-only character through 46 levels, I've never had this happen even once. Certainly not in the middle of what was going to be my killing blow on the other guy. I don't really care so much about the cutscene shifting my position a bit. It's a trifle odd, I'm not sure why it would do that, but I've never seen a kill-cam save my enemy at the last second.

I also never hear anybody complain "Hey, the other guy was gonna hit me and really would have killed me, but I got lucky and triggered a kill-cam and won. The injustice!"

The arrow-kill-cams I won't comment on as I haven't done enough archery to talk about it.

I hate some of the ones for the player too...my stealth kill has me standing stupidly around without controls while I could be getting back to cover. The were bludgeon kill causes me to stand and take 2 minutes to kill one guy while 4 guards close in and wail on me. I've been killed while performing kill cams then I have been while playing the game.

This is how killcams work: The game detects whether a blow would be lethal(if it had connected) and if it would, you get the killcam to play. Unfortunately, this can mean an enemy starting a swing that would kill you, can stop your attack(which could have hit first otherwise) and forces your character into a killcam. It worked well in turn based games like Dragon Age...but I'm not so sure they were implemented well in Skyrim.
