Just a Crying Shame really

I really liked Brink when it first came out. I'm a gameplay enthusiast, and I was looking for something that was an FPS with some RPG elements that actually mattered. Wanted to get away from the BF3's etc. I brought my Clan at the time from MAG to this game.

I LOVE the concepts. The medic class, the mini guns, the recoil vs power...no one gun is really OP'd (at least not when I played Brink regularly)....there's three or four guns that are "better" than the rest, but body style and play style have a lot to do with gun choice.

The periphrial weapons were inventive and the objectives were interesting and fresh. The wall walking didn't mean much to me but the body sliding and the jumping off stuff and pulling yourself up based on your size was pretty freakin sweet.

There was so much about this game from a pure concept that I really liked.

However, there were some things I couldn't stand.
Bots....seriously...online mutliplayer CANNOT have bots
Lack of grouping....I don't know if this is better, but when the game game out, there was no lobby system and playing with friends was like pulling teeth
Lack of Clan Support....I think this killed it for us more than anything. We really wanted clan wars. And by the time they were added to the game, I couldn't get the guys to come back to it. Lesson to be learned here is that if it wasn't in the release, it may kill the game. And I'm not talking about small stuff, I'm talking CLAN WARS. Brink is the anti-Battlefield, honestly. Solo players won't dig it.
8 v 8. My clan came from MAG 32 vs 32. It just seemed so small.
Peer to Peer Lag....just ....wow.
I know Brink got knocked for it's graphics, but I could care less about graphics.

From a form and function perspective I wish it took quite a few less bullets to kill a guy, but they give you so many in so many of the guns it kind of evens out....however, in a two vs one the one was almost always the loser, skill couldn't really overcome it...unless it was a Heavy with a mini gun.

I hope there is a Brink 2. With more cash and more development behind it. The ideas are solid, and the gameplay is pretty fun, it's just EVERYTHING ELSE about the game made it a real drag to play (and no auto balancing on the teams).

Like I said, a crying shame, really.
