A time travelling DeLorian is the best solution.

Recovery. You can recover your computer to yesterday. Wouldn't recommend it if you have some important documents on your computer from today or yesterday :)

Assuming you're on PC try system restore. If you deleted it in windows you may be able to recover it with software, if you did it in game that won't work. There's no other way really and if you're on console you're screwed.

You should always have more than one save though. I have 5/6 I rotate.

Make more than one save this time... I would recommend a new manual save at the start/end of each quest, as well as at the end of each play session. Disk space on a PC is cheap and plentiful, and you can always delete the excess saves later when you no longer need them.

Just a thought.... make more than one save per character. That way, if a save is corrupted or accidentally deleted, there'll be another one that's not too far out of date.

(I tend to have around 10 saves for each character, copying over the oldest one when I save again.)

Could try using http://www.quetek.com/download.htm. I've recovered an entire hard drive of data before even after formating. I believe the trial allows you to scan for files but you'd need to purchase it to do the actual file recovery. At least you'd know if you can get it back or not. I've used the retail version numerous times and it works great. Good luck.
