Just HOW unique will you be?

ESO offers a VASTLY wider range of customization than many other MMOs. List information you have below that relates to customization options and how you will stand out.

Abilities
  • Each race will have it's own unlockable abilities that can be used. (12 races that people may focus on skills from)
  • Each of the 4 classes (based on current info) will have 3 skill trees (based on current info). Total 12 skill trees that people may choose to focus on.
  • There are a wide range of ways to play each class. Armor types and other spells and weapon types can be leveled up. Each has the potential to unlock a wide array of abilities, which may or may not be influenced by your class. There might be as few as 6 "popular" approaches, or many more.
  • Each skill can morph in several ways. There might be just two "popular" approaches to this. There may be many more.
  • Then there are professions, equipment, play style etc....

So when you're exploring Tamriel, 1 in 12 may be your race. 1 in 48 may be your race and class. 1 in 144 may be your race and class with your class skill tree focus. You might be one of 6 "popular" builds for secondary skills, armor and weapon use, making you 1 in 864. If there were just 2 popular approaches to morphing skills and you picked one such approach, every 1,728 people you meet might be "like you". Then there are professions, equipment, play style etc..

Don't ever expect to feel like a "clone" as you progress in here. ;)

There are only going to be 3 races per faction...so while PvE-ing lower that 1 in 12 to 1 in 3 and when in Cyrodiil bump it up to 1 in 9.

But yes, according to known info so far, you'll be pretty unique in build and apparently appearance, too. I'm glad! I hate it when everybody has the same pre-set face.

I think you will have a chance to be quite unique, problem is people follow what looks good and works especially in themepark mmo's.

I think he means 1 in 12 skills from the racial tree, not 1 in 12 races.

I'm not very concerned about being class and stats unique, I think every player's set of reactions and communication skills in pvp, playstyle and rhetoric in pve make everybody unique in a way that could provide very interesting unique encounters and adventures. I'm not a fan of internet character build inspiration either, in every rpg I've played so far I have relied solely on my own trial and error.
