Just started playing and I have say...WOW! incredible game!

Post » Thu Nov 08, 2012 9:54 am

I just finished the quest where you are searching for the Staff of Magnus in the Dwarven ruins of Mzulft. The fog drifting across the floors, when them squirmy bug things shoot their venom at you, everything in there screams "dungeon atmosphere" in Mzulft and that can be said of any dungeon I have visited so far, really amazing how immersed I am in this game as it plays out.

I like the way conversation is done much more so then Oblivion where we got the closeups with all conversations, thats a very nice touch and it really shows that Bethesda listened to their fans and did not repeat the closeups in Skyrim.

I am only level 9 so far but I have to say this is without a doubt the best TES game I have played and I have played them all dating back to when they were new games, indluding Arena.

Good job Bethesda, I just had to come on here and give my praise this game is totally worthy of it.

Also running 21 mods and the game is running flawlessly so far for me.

For some reason I like the extreme close-up zoom in on character interactions in Oblivion
It's like you've just got a camera and rammed it in their face: "well then? hey? you? I'm talkin' to you! what's the rumors, lickspittle?"

Wow. I want to thank you for being one of the fans that has been with the series since the first TES, and one that does not crap on the game all the time.

It is refreshing to see fans who have been with the series since the beginning, and are positive

I agree. This is an absolutely amazing game.

That doesn't mean there isn't room for criticism but I think this game is leaps and bounds above any other game in the genre (or even in the industry.)

Just don't be in a rush to increase your skills, they will level up and your character will level up as it needs to just by playing the game. Be careful with Crafting. It can cause issues with balance if not used properly. Of course, your opinion of balance and proper use is different than mine. Just be aware that Smithing, Alchemy and Enchanting, if you Grind them, can level your character beyond the ability to handle the game, or, give you equipment and techniques that can take most or all of the challenge away from combat.

Welcome to your vice, good luck with your life.

And you speak of the Chaurus. Giant slimy centipede looking things with huge mandibles. I hate 'em. Dawnguard introduced flying Chaurus. Those nasty things can evolve. :ahhh:

The thing is I work at a golf course in BC Canada. Every winter I get laid off around the end of October and I am on EI until the middle of March so I have TONS of time to play...hehe

I find it interesting that you've played since Arena ...do you happen to have a favorite TES game or do you like them all equally? I started TES with Oblivion, but it's a tie between it and Skyrim for my favorite and though I've poured many hours into Skyrim already, I intend to put even more in :D.

I have been considering going backward to Morrowind, but haven't made a final decision about it yet.

I can barely remember my play time in Arena and back then graphics and such were pretty bad, basically industry wide, because well thats just the way things were back then. I would have to say that I put more hours into Morrowind then any of the other TES games. It really started to become a way of life one christmas when I got Morrowind from someone as a present and they bought me the xbox version and I did not have an xbox. One day I was shopping and noticed xbox on sale for $99.99 or something cheap like that so I bought it so I could finally check out Morrowind. Well then a while after that I got Steam installed on my PC and one day I noticed Bethesda showed up on there with all their games! I quickly purchased the GOTY edition of Morrowind and I still have it installed as of today...and I play it from time to time.

So I guess if I have to give an answer to which one I liked the best it would have to be Morrowind, however I honestly think Skyrim is going to take over that spot in my gaming favorites...

I got to really enjoy the Mage questline. I enjoy the ghosts talking. I still fear and loath the chaurus. Only in one game as a Vampire could I laugh at them.

My encounter with TES was initialized by Skyrim, so I have a lot to catch up on compared to you.
It seems to me that the games have come to comprise so much that the fans now feel entitled to complain about mostly anything they'd like to have in the game that isn't there, but Skyrim is such an epic, elaborate, beautiful game that you almost forget it has all been planned and coded and realized by just a bunch of people. Regardless of what's to become of the DLCs for, say, PS3 (the console I use), Skyrim still offers unprecedented adventures to last for hundreds if not thousands of hours of play-time, with exceptional "replay-value".

Having some trouble getting past these Yeti looking things up in the mountains as I head to the next part of finding that staff...anyone got any clues on how to fight these things? They seem to cut me down faster then I can heal up, maybe I should have bought a few more potions before I left town...hummn

I like stepping out of Windstad Manor at dawn and watch the sun rise over the sea. At the same time you can see fog roll back from the water and crawl back up the mountain side.

This game is epic on so many levels and my favorite most played game to date.

Frost Trolls...

Skyrim's reminder to us that there are some bad ass beasts out there.

You mean the Frost Trolls? Burn them up, the most effective way to kill them is with fire.

Glad to see you are enjoying Skyrim so much :)
I am another old TES fan who has played all first four games (multiple times, especially MW) and whose soul got stolen by Skyrim (that is, it became my fave).
