I hate the moderators and everything they do.
It's okay, we love you too. :hugs:

I would like to thank various people for stuff. And things.
If only topics were randomly made to thank various people for "stuff".

With all the mod appreciation topics without a doubt I'm sure they feel appreciated by now..

Lol, The time I felt the needed appreciate most was that 2 week period prior to release of Skyrim and the 3-4 week period after the release of Skyrim. So much so that I sent on of them this note.....

"As a long time forum member and one who appreciates the state of affairs once the release period has come and gone; I commend you for your efforts in eliminating the various trolling and useless posting that comes with this time period. It is most likely a very aggravating time period for posters like you and me and I felt that some recognition was in order. Keep " fighting the good fight" and I'm sure Ill see you on the otherside of these troubling times."

I think it was directed at nu_clear day, hence the Three Dog reference...

There really should be a reward system for good people. Punishing bad people is pointless, but dangle a carrot in front of people and now you are their master.

Well, not to be the buzz-kill here, but there are also times where spam threads go unlocked for roughly 500 posts... :whistling:

Apart from that rather ludicrous "post limit" enforced, I concur

Everyone makes this thread at some point in their forum lives, whether they remember it or not.

Usually after going to some other forum and then coming back here. I've been all over this 'net, and never seen a better run forum of decent size.

I like the post limit ever since I had to find something on the New Vegas Nexus forums. Its insane trying to find one piece of relevant information in a thread with over 800 comments.

Could we discuss the terrifying practice of making banned members un-persons? I don't really feel the need to discuss banned members, but a practice that mimics some of the worst forms of control from 1984 needs to be assessed.

We can make comments about them, but we can't make threads about them. At least, that's the way I heard it.

They get free games and stuff nobody else can get their hands on, so it sounds pretty worth it to me.
Free games and swag are awesome, but given some of the things we put up with they alone don't make it worth it.

Now banning people? That's awesome :hehe:

OT, bless all of your moderator souls for braving.... Skyrim General *shudders*
There are far darker places on these forums, trust me. ;)

Wait... did I just get accused to being drunk while making this thread... o.0
I hope you were, because we'll be drunk when we respond.

I agree, why aren't we complaining about JagarTharn12?

Yes.

There really should be a reward system for good people. Punishing bad people is pointless, but dangle a carrot in front of people and now you are their master.
And now you understand why we have a star system.

And since I've gotten all of the pithy replies out of the way. . .

We don't clamp down on any mention or aside, but it's a tricky subject to allow. The Terms and Conditions guarantee members a right to privacy, which means that mods and admin can't publicly discuss warnings, bans, or other disciplinary action. This makes any discussion of banned members potentially problematic as such conversations almost always turn towards question of how it happened, or why people feel it was unfair. In the former case anything could be said and we couldn't do anything to defend ourselves. Clearly a claim like, "XYZ was banned for improper verbal moods in conditional clauses," won't be taken seriously, but what about the claim that someone was banned for a minor infraction when this isn't true? Or a claim that someone never knew why they were banned when we had explained this to them.

If people want to discuss a banned member it really is best to keep it to PMs.

Watched someone dissapear once. Scared me when i innocently asked about a particular member only to have my comment removed. It's only a games forum but it's a 13+ forum that introduces kids to the idea that problem people can be in effect be made an un-person for convenience sake.
