Why does everyone think you have to shout to use the Kinect? I keep seeing that over and over. Just move it closer to you if you need to. I have mine 2 feet in front of me and I can speak in a normal tone with no issues at all. Even in my living room I didn't have to shout to use it. As for age I'm 48 and I love using it. It adds a lot of functionality that you simply can't get with the controller. The ability to quick select shouts, spells, and weapons without fooling around in menus every few seconds in battle is worth it alone. All the other stuff is just a bonus to me although I do really appreciate the quick save/new save feature.

I'm using it just fine and I like it, except for a bug I just found for dual wielding weapons with the same name. Dragon shouts work ok for me. It takes practice to memorize everything, and soon it will become easy to use.

I don't ever plan on owning a Kinect peripheral, so I doubt I'll ever use the functionality. I have nothing bad to say about Kinect, I'm sure that it's a great gadget that many, many people will be happy with. It just doesn't fit the way I like to game, and therefore doesn't appeal to me at all.

i can see the benefit of using it in a gui interface but i dont have the room or the energy to start waving about like a loony to play me games. its an expensive gadget to get is it really all that worth getting it, just to be able to talk to you 360, and could this not be done with the mouth piece on the headset, or is there a lot more to this that i am just not getting?

this should stay within general discussion.

I recommend giving it a try if you have Kinect. If you prefer playing the old-fashioned way, you can turn off the functionality in the settings.

So far not liking it. Not really working for me. It's not reconising what I am saying keeps saying "try again" so a bit frustrating. Hopefully I will figure it out soon.

If you have a kinect already go for it. I personally don't think it's a reason to go out and buy a kinect tho.

The thing is, I don't want to remember all of those shouts and commands when I already know how to do it though the interface

I have mine 10 feet away it it works fine just in my normal speaking voice. Didn't think I would use it much but it is great, especially for quick saves, favorites and sorting. I actually find myself using shouts way more often than before.....reason being is that now I have all shouts available within seconds (I only use the english commands) where as before I would have to either favorite them or go through the menu, which doesn't take a whole lot of time but I never found shouts to be overly useful so I wouldnt bother.

I am 35.

^through that link you can find a list of all the English commands - they look pretty straightforward to me :)

On topic: I would if I had an Xbox - it would be a great tool to use. Although my neighbors might be a bit worried about me ...

I don't have an Xbox but I was really happy when I read this for those who do. It sounds like a great success all around.

I think its a great addition for those who have kinect. I would not spend $150 to shout at my TV though.

Okay guys, I'm pretty sceptical with the kinect, I mean I'm not one who likes to move around a whole lot when i'm gaming..but the voice commands are actually pretty good. I really think it give the xbox users some of the standard funcitonality that PC users get to enjoy.. like the quick save. It did annoy me slightly that there isn't a generic command to use a non shout based power. I couldn't clearly see in the PDF doc what the new button combo was, its (LB + RB). After much googling I had some kind user who had found it by mashing buttons.

However one thing with I've noticed is that its can be a little over sensative...With my kinect trying to process the audio from the TV. Also my girlfriend took great delight in shouting the equip weapon command in the middle of a fighting a Durgr Lord..with my poor char unequiping his mace...*sigh* I died quickly. But fortunetely I had quick saved!

I also found it that it struggled switching to my heal spell assignment.

Still I like it on the whole.

I find it more fun to mess with my brothers kinect when he is playing, fus ro dah when he is trying to talk to people etc.

If you know an xbox player with a kinect, it's more fun trolling than playing. :P

I know three (out of four who own Skyrim) in my circle of friends. Does that mean that 75% of the population wants to use it? Didn't think so... irrelevance your honor.

Even if I had the possibility to use it, I wouldn't. Call me old school, but I prefer using a controller when I play games :)

I've been loving your games since Daggerfall. If I had a Kinect, I'd try it just 'cause I love what you guys do. But I don't even own one for the reasons I listed above. But I did watch the video from the LIVE marketplace, and I must say that you guys did a great job and integrated a pretty comprehensive command list.

If I ever get a Kinect, which seems unlikely, I would give it a try.
