I'm still getting use to the controls and keep clicking on items by mistake that get sold to vendors. A "click to confirm" button would keep me from accidentally selling items, how do I get my stuff back without having to pay retail?

Reload your game or pay retail. The game autosaves whenever you enter a store so you can't be losing much progress.
