Keyboard + Controller Combo

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 8:55 am

For those of you that played Oblivion or Fallout 3 on PC with a controller, does the game automatically disable the keyboard? I know it did with FO:NV (different company I know) and I hated it. I'm definitely more comfortable playing with a controller, but I also like being able to use my keyboard for hotkeys and quick save, so it's very annoying when it gets disabled. Now I know if it was enabled for Oblivion or Fallout 3 that it doesn't necessarily mean it will in Skyrim, but it would be a good clue.

I knew for GTA:IV you could use the game pad as an Xbox controller as it's a Windows Live game, and so is Skyrim. But you could use the keyboard too.

Oh but you had to download some weird mod to get it working like that. It sort of tricked the game into thinking you had an Xbox controller.

That's the wrong combination IMO.

Correct owuld be controller + mouse. Keyboard movement is the one objective downside of the PC platform. It's absolute and only in four directions. IMO an anolog stick surrounded by mechanical hotkeys + a mouse would be the perfect PC gaming solution.

I'm using my controller (wired xbox360 one) for the console games that are designed for such things. I actually feel more comfortable doing that then the mouse and keyboard, especially when exact aiming isn't a priority, but it's hardly a suprise something designed to fit in my hands is preferable.

Something like that. Not sure how I feel about the tiny nub, and for $80 rubber dome keys instead of mechanical is a deal breaker.
