I would love to be able to play with the controller but use the keyboard when I feel like it. I don't understand why the keyboard is disabled while using the controller.

Any chance it's possible to resolve this with a mod?

I'm interested in using VAC to augment my controller experience with voice commands so I can switch spells or perform dragon shouts WITH MY VOICE! In order to do that however, VAC has to map voice commands to key strokes or combos. If I'm using the controller, I won't be able to use VAC at the same time.

I tried using search to see if someone else addressed this but didn't have any luck. I apologize if I am missing something obvious.

I imagine that modders would be able to fix this. ...because one of my downloaded mods uses the [pause/break] key and it works with a controller. As of now, there arn't any mods that do this.

Seconded! Once SKSE is in full swing and we're able to add functionality using IsKeyPressed, we're really gonna need the ability to utilize the keyboard keys without turning our controllers off. Many PC games that utilize a 360 controller (Batmans for instance) will still allow keyboard input such that both methods work simultaneously. I see no reason why Skyrim disables all but a few keys and the mouse when using a controller.

In fallout 3 im using my controller and the keyboard for mod settings like pushing right ctl for a med tec scan.
