Keyboard settings

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 9:07 pm

Can someone remind me which file stores all the Key Bindings? Checked the SkyrimPrefs.ini and Skyrim.ini, also looked in Renderinfo out of desperation, first. ;)

Thanks.

controlmap.txt
keyboard.txt
mouse.txt
But they all have warning about editing, perhaps simple changing of values will not work and need recompilation of scaleform swf files also.

Where are the .txt files stored, please? I am trying to find a way to edit out the "reserved keys" so that I can use my keypad again!

Please help. :)

Thanks Dragon_Stalker :)

I don't see those files in the main directory or save directory section. Got a loc on the folder with these files, please?

Thanks.

I'll do a backup but if they are marked Caution about editing perhaps they just require an editor like Notepad ++ or editor that can read code?

Geez, don't people know how to read? Add a weapon to favourites and you can hotkey it from there.

I wish there was just a simple way to change ALL my Keybindings to the way I want.

Nothing more, nothing less.

If anyone knows how to un-reserve the number pad please send me detailed instructions. I'm not a moder but I've always used the keypad for my movements and not being able to has messed me up. Thanx for any help.

Waste93 -

Extract :

Data \ Interface \ Controls \ PC \ controlmap.txt
Data \ Interface \ Controls \ PC \ keyboard_english.txt (for reference as to what all the codes are)

from Skyrim - Interface.bsa

using Fallout 3 Archive Utility

Edit controlmap.txt:

For each Hotkey 1 - 8 in the first section "Main Gameplay", in the second column, remove the comma and the second entry, and replace it with the 4-space tab character that immediately follows "0x10" on the Favorites line.

You can make any other changes you wish, there are some pretty good ones that were made in a mod on skyrimnexus.com.

Note that actually setting the keybindings for the "Main Gameplay" in this file didn't seem to work for me.

But I could now go into the game, set all the controls to the wonderful keys I want (including numpads), and now finally play the game without feeling weird and awkward!
